A very rare case of patient with locally advanced hypopharyngeal cancer with solitary, large peritoneal metastasis was presented. Diagnostic imaging excluded other organs metastases (lungs, liver, bones). At 62-old patient with advanced hypopharyngeal cancer (T4N2b) a dynamical nodal progression (within 1.5 months) without primary tumour progression was observed, and number of metastatic nodes was increased from 2 to 9. The clinical and pathological features of metastatic prostate cancer with normal level of serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) were investigated. Four patients with metastatic prostate cancer had serum PSA within the normal range at the diagnosis. All tumors were poorly-differentiated adenocarcinoma. Chondroid syringoma of the vulva is an extremely rare tumor. Of the previously reported cases, only one was clinically malignant. The authors describe a case of chondroid syringoma of the right labium majus from which arose a papillary adenocarcinoma. A right inguinal lymph node was replaced with metastatic adenocarcinoma.

Two cases of Papillary cystic tumor of pancreas--one metastasizing to lymph node and the other non-metastasizing are reported for their rare occurrence. Both occurred in young females and presented with heaviness and pain in the left hypochondrium with palpable mass. On radiological examination, mass was arising from tail of pancreas and had typical gross features. The histological findings seen in metastasizing tumor were capsular invasion, infiltration to surrounding pancreatic tissue and vascular invasion with metastasis to lymph node. Extramedullary plasmacytomas (EMP) comprise 4% of all plasma cell neoplasms and commonly in the upper airway or digestive tract but rarely develop in the lungs. We present a case of primary pulmonary plasmacytoma in an 89 year old man, presented as a hilar mass with associated intrathoracic and extrathoracic lymph node metastases, but without evidence of myeloma. UNLABELLED: Tumor size seems to be one of the primary prognostic factors that influence outcome in pancreatic cancer patients. This finding is reflected in both the Japanese and the International Union against Cancer (UICC) staging systems, in which T categories have a major influence on stage grouping. Any operation for lung cancer that is planned as curative includes dissection of the lymph nodes in the mediastinum in order to allow correct staging of the disease. It is well known that ipsilateral lymph node metastases (N2) mean a poor prognosis. Since most patients with this finding die from metastatic tumor progression within 3 years after the operation, it can be assumed that positive findings in the mediastinal lymph nodes represent generalization of the cancer. Therefore, the probability of a therapeutic effect from more radical removal of lymph nodes in the mediastinum is rather low.

BACKGROUND: Invasive ductal carcinomas of the breast frequently have an intraductal (in situ) component at the tumor periphery that, in some cases, is included in the measurement of the tumor and thereby increases the size of the tumor beyond that of the invasive component.

From 1950 to 1991, 1,221 lung cancer cases were treated with surgery in Tokyo Medical College Hospital. The 5-year survival rate was achieved in 70.1% for stage I, 49.5% for stage II, 17.0% for stage III A, 0% for stage III B and 8.3% for stage IV respectively. Considering for the survival rate with pN factor in 753 resected cases, the 5-year survival rate of N0, N1, N2 and N3 cases was 65.8%, 38.1%, 16.3% and 0% respectively.
