Effects of Nordic Walking Combined with High-Protein Intake and Time-Restricted Eating on Muscle-Related Outcomes in Postmenopausal Women: A Three-Arm Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Muscle health decline is a major concern in postmenopausal women; however, most interventions have focused on exercise as an isolated component. It remains unclear whether embedding exercise within a broader lifestyle framework enhances muscle-related outcomes. METHODS: A total of 100 postmenopausal women took part in this randomized controlled trial and were randomly assigned to three groups: Nordic walking combined with high-protein intake and time-restricted eating (NW+HP+TRE, n = 36), Nordic walking combined with time-restricted eating (NW+TRE, n = 33), and a control group (n

Clinical, Metabolic, and Sonographic Predictors of Endometrial Carcinoma Among Women Presenting With Postmenopausal Bleeding: A Prospective Observational Study From a Tertiary Care Center in South India.

Background Endometrial carcinoma represents the most common gynecological malignancy among postmenopausal women, with rising incidence attributed to increasing rates of obesity, metabolic syndrome, and changing reproductive patterns. Identifying clinical and metabolic risk factors is essential for early diagnosis and improved outcomes. This study aims to evaluate the clinical, demographic, and metabolic risk factors associated with endometrial carcinoma in postmenopausal women presenting with vaginal bleeding and to correlate bleeding patterns, endometrial thickness (ET), and histopathological

A synbiotic medical food improves gut barrier function, reduces immune responses, and inhibits osteoclast activity in models of postmenopausal bone loss aligned with clinical outcomes.

UNLABELLED: Over half of women above age 50 are affected by osteopenia or osteoporosis, boneloss conditions influenced by estrogen decline, inflammation, and the intestinal microbiota. Probiotic-based interventions have shown promise in preclinical osteoporosis models. In a recent randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial of postmenopausal women, dietary intervention with SBD111, a synbiotic medical food combining plant-derived probiotics and prebiotic fibers, reduced bone loss in women with osteopenia, elevated body mass index (BMI), and/or elevated body fat. To investigate

Impact of high body fat and low muscle mass on bone mineral density in postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes: A DXA-based cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Sarcopenic obesity, defined as the coexistence of reduced muscle mass and excess adiposity, may adversely affect bone health, especially in postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aimed to explore the association between different body composition phenotypes, particularly sarcopenic obesity, and bone mineral density (BMD) in this population. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 573 postmenopausal women with T2DM hospitalized between September 2020 and October 2024. Based on appendicular skeletal muscle mass index (ASMI) and body fat perc

Positive association between the triglyceride-glucose index and lumbar bone mineral density in US postmenopausal women: A cross-sectional study from NHANES 2005 to 2018.

The relationship between insulin resistance (IR) and bone density is quite complex. The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index, which combines the assessment of glycolipid metabolism, can serve as a noninvasive alternative method for evaluating IR and is easy to promote. Currently, there is relatively little research on the correlation between the TyG index and bone density in postmenopausal women. This study explored the relationship between the TyG index and lumbar spine bone mineral density (LBMD) in elderly postmenopausal women in the United States through the National Health, and Nutrition Exam

The effectiveness of vitamin D as an alternative to FDA-approved treatment and other therapies for managing vulvovaginal atrophy and sexual inactivity in postmenopausal women. A systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA) and sexual inactivity (SI) are prevalent among postmenopausal women (PMW). While hormonal therapies show significant improvement, non-hormonal therapies are considered the first-line for breast cancer women. However, vaginal hormonal therapies are unavailable in all countries, particularly developing countries such as the middle east, and there are no studies that have tested these therapies in women either with a history of breast cancer or those taking endocrine therapies for their cancer. OBJECTIVE: We conducted this meta-analysis to evaluate the effe

Lifestyle Factors Influencing Metabolic Syndrome after Adjusting for Socioeconomic Status and Female Reproductive Health Indicators: A National Representative Survey in Korean Pre- and Postmenopausal Women.

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is increasing markedly among postmenopausal women. Although studies suggest multiple risk factors for its development, few have investigated changes in socioeconomic status (SES), female reproductive health indicators (menarche age, experience of pregnancy, delivery, breastfeeding, and postmenopausal status), and lifestyle factors. This study investigated lifestyle factors affecting MetS prevalence among pre- and post-menopausal women after adjusting for SES and female reproductive health indicators. Data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey

A systematic review of clinical trials using single or combination therapy of oral or topical finasteride for women in reproductive age and postmenopausal women with hormonal and nonhormonal androgenetic alopecia.

Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) is a hereditary form of hair loss in women and the most common patterned progressive hair loss in female patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). One of the best methods for treating hair loss in women is the finasteride treatment. This systematic review includes a summary of the pharmacology of finasteride and the effect of the drug on women, especially those in the menopausal age group, and is aimed at elucidating methods of preventing systematic side effects. A search of all published literature from 1999 to 2020 has been conducted with the use of PubMed/ME

Comparison of the Ketogenic Ratio of Macronutrients With the Low-Carbohydrate Diet Score and Their Association With Risk of Type 2 Diabetes in Postmenopausal Women: A Secondary Analysis of the Women's Health Initiative.

BACKGROUND: Previous attempts to identify low-carbohydrate diets (LCDs) in epidemiological studies relied on the LCD Score, which is unable to identify ketogenic dieters. Ketogenic ratios of macronutrients are clinical equations proposed to predict ketogenic diets; however, their utility in epidemiological studies is unknown. OBJECTIVE: To determine the number of participants consuming a ketogenic diet, compare ketogenic ratios to the LCD Score, and evaluate their association with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). DESIGN: Secondary analysis of the Women's Health Initiative with 17.9 ± 6.03 ye
