Together 41 paramyxovirus (PMV) strains (25 PMV-1, 10 PMV-4, and 6 PMV-6 serotypes) were isolated from cloacal swabs of 910 free-living birds trapped in West Slovakia from 1978 to 1982. The PMV strains were found in 9, mostly aquatic bird species. Strains belonging to the PMV-1 serotype were isolated yearly, indicating its wide distribution and circulation in nature. A 40-year-old man had disseminated toxoplasmosis preceded by miliary tuberculosis and associated with skin anergy. In previously reported cases of disseminated toxoplasmosis, the three organs most commonly involved were brain, heart, and lungs. The histopathologic picture of toxoplasmal lymphadenopathy was not present in our case or in previously reported cases. Legionella pneumophila is transmitted by aerosolization of water or dust from soil. There are six serotypes and four newly recognized related organisms. Sporadic cased of Legionnaires; disease are more common than epidemic case and are less likely to be suspected . Most reporters cases are characterized by severe pneumonia. Bacteriologic culture is the preferred method of diagnosis, but most cases are identified by the indirect fluorescent antibody method. Erythromycin is the drug of choice.

Yersinia enterocolitica (Y. ent.) infections are rather frequently complicated by acute reactive inflammation in the connective tissue, especially in the joints. A prospective aetiologic analysis made of 70 children and adults with the clinical and haematologic features of infectious mononucleosis (IM) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, revealed 65.7% due to EBV (31 heterophile antibody positive (HA+), 15 HA negative (HA-) cases), 8.6% due to T. gondii and 4.3% due to CMV. Forty refugees (23 from 5 lao families and 17 from 3 cambodian families) previously and routinely treated against intestinal parasites, underwent stools and serum controls: 77 p. 100 had still intestinal parasites but 61 p. 100 had a normal blood cells count without hypereosinophilia. The parasites so detected were: Clonorchis sinensis, Heterophyes heterophyes, Trichuris trichiura, Necator americanus, Strongyloides stercoralis, Giardia intestinals and Entamoeba coli.
