We discuss the usefulness of postmortem computed tomography (PMCT) by reviewing cases of cervical spine injury. A merit of PMCT is that it can identify injury that cannot be found on autopsy; however, peculiar defects of it may exist. While PMCT can identify bone fractures, it cannot indicate whether the injury was inflicted while the deceased was still alive or not because of its inability to clearly image bleeding around the fracture. Furthermore, CT often misses some types of cervical spine injuries, such as laceration of an intervertebral disk and incomplete fracture of the cervical spine.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate whether cervical spine changes are associated with the destruction of shoulder or peripheral joints and with bone mineral density (BMD) in patients with long-term RA.
METHODS: An inception cohort of 67 patients with seropositive and erosive RA were followed up for 20 years. Cervical spine, shoulder, hand and foot radiographs, and the BMD of the lumbar spine and femoral neck were evaluated.

The approach to the diagnostic evaluation of a patient with neutropenia can be guided largely by clinical history and physical examination and does not always require an extensive laboratory evaluation. Based on the history and bone marrow morphology, most children with chronic neutropenia can be classified and managed. Most patients with chronic neutropenia are free of infections and are able to maintain a normal lifestyle with no or minimal medical intervention. On the other hand, for patients with recurrent or severe infections, careful follow-up and institution of treatment are mandatory.

The cardiac effect of granisetron, a selective 5-hydroxytryptamine3 receptor antagonist, on 12 patients with bone and soft-tissue sarcomas treated by cytotoxic chemotherapy consisting of multiple courses was examined. Four patients (five limbs) were treated with preliminary soft tissue distraction using an Orthofix external distractor. The patient's ages ranged from 6 months to 14 years.
