Hypocycloid tomography with photographic subtraction was applied during the early nephrographic phase of urography in 48 transplanted kidneys. The quality of demarcation between cortex and medulla in the subtracted nephrotomogram was evaluated and categorized into 4 groups: Excellent, good, poor, and absent demarcation. A case is presented in which an ectopic but otherwise normally functioning kidney was used for living related renal transplantation. The donor evaluation was complicated by nonvisualization of the ectopic kidney on intravenous pyelogram, presumably through an error in radiologic technique. We determined the concentrations of clindamycin and gentamicin in fluid aspirated from 16 cysts of a surgically excised polycystic kidney. The patient had received both drugs intravenously for seven days before nephrectomy. The cysts were grouped into proximal (pH greater than 6.5) and distal (pH less than 6.5) types according to the pH of the fluid. Computed tomography was performed in 125 patients with kidney tumors for pretreatment staging. The accuracy of CT staging was then determined by correlating the CT findings with the pathologic findings (111 patients) or with the angiographic findings (14 patients). The endogenous 24-hour-clearance and the sodium excretion during 24 hours in the urine were investigated on 12 healthy persons with chronic nephropathies, 5 patients with condition after acute renal failure and 75 patients with condition after transplantation of a kidney. Four groups of 5 male and 5 female rats were dosed i.p. with 0, 0.05, 0.15 and 0.30 mmol Pb2+/kg as neutral acetate. A minimal kidney damage shown by an increased urinary GGt was only observed in males at the highest dose. In all animals and for all doses natriuria was significantly decreased on the first day (from the 4th hour). Such disturbances evoke mild tubular disturbances but glomerular disturbances may also be involved.
