Capillary blood flow (QCAP) kinetics have previously been shown to be significantly slower than femoral artery (QFA) kinetics following the onset of dynamic knee extension exercise. We describe a case of bilateral septic knee arthritis that followed the administration of methotrexate for nonsurgical termination of an ectopic pregnancy. We believe that methotrexate is a relatively effective alternative to surgery in patients with early unruptured tubal pregnancies, but suggest that it be used with caution in view of possible septic events.

This article reports the case of a 58-year-old man with failed bilateral opening wedge high tibial osteotomies. Because of excessive valgus deformities, each total knee arthroplasty (TKA) was combined with a recorrection osteotomy. TKAs were performed consecutively. Recorrection osteotomy using a long-stemmed tibial component and a derotation plate corrected the valgus malalignment and maintained native ligament stability in each posterior cruciate ligament-retaining TKA.

Below knee amputation protects the ipsilateral knee from osteoarthritis and overloads the contralateral knee predisposing it to symptomatic osteoarthritis. We retrospectively reviewed 13 primary total knee arthroplasty (TKAs) in 12 patients with a prior lower extremity amputation.
