In 22 patients with clinically definite multiple sclerosis (MS) who were without visual symptoms and had a visual acuity of at least 1.0 in both eyes at the time of measurement, the following tests were performed to detect subclinical lesions in the visual system: visual evoked potential (VEP), contrast sensitivity test (CS), flight of colours test (FOC), colour vision test (Ishihara plates) (CV) and the pupillary light reflex (PLR). We report the first documented case of retrobulbar optic neuropathy associated with golimumab. A 48-year-old man was admitted with a 3-week history of progressive visual loss of his left eye. There are two distinct subtypes of multiple sclerosis (MS) in Asians, optic-spinal (OSMS) and conventional (CMS). In OSMS, severe spinal cord lesions are characteristic while brain lesions are scant. We sought to clarify atypical brain lesions in OSMS by neuroimaging and pathological studies. Fluid-attenuated inversion recovery imaging (=flair imaging) is widely used as primary screening sequence in various investigation protocols, due to its high lesion contrast and sensitivity in detection of parenchymatous and leptomeningeal disease. An additional increase of sensitivity for detection of lesions may be achieved by contrast-enhanced flair imaging. Based on flair imaging a dual-echo inversion recovery imaging sequence (=proton echo usage [=protoneus] - sequence) was developed, which could significantly extend the possibilities of conventional flair imaging.

PURPOSE: The authors describe the clinical feature of ten patients with a new syndrome characterized by the presence of retinal vasculitis, multiple macroaneurysms, neuro-retinitis, and peripheral capillary nonperfusion.
METHODS: The authors evaluated ten patients identified to have clinical features compatible with the syndrome of idiopathic retinal vasculitis, aneurysms and neuroretinits (IRVAN). BACKGROUND: Optic perineuritis (OPN), an uncommon optic neuropathy, has previously not been described in patients with Behçet disease (BD). We conducted this study to describe the clinical features, response to treatment, and outcome of OPN due to BD, with particular emphasis on those features that might distinguish this from the idiopathic variety.
METHODS: This is a retrospective, case series review of all patients with a diagnosis of OPN seen in a hospital-based neurology department from 2008 to 2014 who also met the international criteria for the diagnosis of BD.

Orofacial pain bridges an important gap between medicine and dentistry. This article presents the case of a man who reported preauricular pain, tinnitus, and vertigo that began after extraction of an impacted third molar and who was sent for evaluation of a possible temporomandibular joint disorder. However, he was subsequently found to have markers and imaging results consistent with recurrent and more centralized lupus and/or multiple sclerosis.
