OBJECTIVE: Low back pain (LBP) is a highly prevalent condition and one of the leading causes of lost productivity and health-care costs. The objective of this review is to discuss the role of interventional pain procedures and evidence of their effectiveness in treatment of chronic LBP.
METHODS: This is a narrative review examining published studies on interventional procedures for LBP. The rationales, indications, technique, evidence, and complications for the interventional procedures are discussed.

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an immune-mediated inflammatory disease of connective tissue that leads to widespread small vessel damage, progressive fibrosis of the skin and numerous extracutaneous organs. An often forgotten manifestation of SSc is in bone. We report on a case of SSc where the patient suffered from unexplainable coxalgia that had started 4 years after the diagnosis of SSc was made. Nontraumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head was identified by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the underlying cause of the hip pain.

Acrometastases is an unusual presentation of bone metastases, specially when they are the unique location of bone metastases. The authors report a case of a men diagnosed with a lung adenocarcinoma with a unique lytic acrometastases in his left foot. He has been treated with systemic chemotherapy with good local and systemic response. The most common sites of bone metastases are the vertebrae, pelvis, ribs, sternum and skull. Bone metastases in the distal regions of the extremities are unusual (from 0.007 to 0.3% of all patients with bone metastases), involving more frequently hands than feet.
