BACKGROUND: This study aims to report the expansion of a choroidal rupture site caused by blunt ocular trauma using scanning laser ophthalmoscope-optical coherence tomography.
CASE REPORT: The clinical course of a 15-year-old girl with a traumatic ocular injury after being hit in the eye by an elbow was evaluated. Upon the first examination, the best-corrected visual acuity was 16/20. The findings were subretinal pigment epithelial hemorrhage and vertical choroidal rupture. CASE REPORT: We report the case of a 5 month-old male diagnosed with congenital nystagmus and oculocutaneous albinism. The initial examination showed pendular horizontal nystagmus with high amplitude and without blocking position or foveal fixation periods. A 2.5 IU injection of botulinum toxin was administered in the horizontal rectus muscles of both eyes in two sessions separated by 6 weeks. This led to a decrease in amplitude of nystagmus and early development of binocular visual acuity of 4.8cycles/cm.

PURPOSE: To report a case of posterior scleritis associated with angle closure glaucoma and transient myopia.
METHODS: A previously healthy 29-year-old male was referred for YAG laser iridotomy to treat angle closure glaucoma. He was suffering from severe pain and vision loss in his right eye. Findings on examination were hyperemia, proptosis, and myopia measuring approximately 6 diopters. Diagnosis of posterior scleritis was made due to presence of choroidal thickening, sub-Tenon effusion and the classical "T" sign observed on orbital ultrasonography.

We report a case of secondary hypophysitis caused by rupture of Rathke's cleft cyst. A 30-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with complaints of polyuria and left visual acuity impairment. PURPOSE: To report the use of perfluoroperhydrophenanthrene (vitreon) for traumatic retinal detachment in children.

Usher's syndrome type I is a heterogeneous group of diseases characterized by severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss, absent vestibular function, and progressive pigmentary retinopathy. Other identifying clinical features have not been documented. In this study, we examined olfactory acuity, plasma levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids and sarcosine, and cilia ultrastructure in a homogeneous cohort of patients with Usher's syndrome type IC. The normal age-dependent decline in olfactory acuity was observed, and normal plasma levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids and sarcosine were found.

The ratio of disc to macula/disc diameter is characteristically increased in eyes with optic nerve hypoplasia. We present the largest reported series of patients with a definitive diagnosis of optic nerve hypoplasia for whom this ratio has been determined. Due to its antiproliferative properties, daunomycin is of potential use in the treatment of proliferative vitreoretinopathy and capsular fibrosis after cataract extraction. The medical records of 224 children who had lens surgery performed at the Hospital for Sick Children during the 10-year period 1978-88 were reviewed. There were 12 children with ectopia lentis; these patients achieved a mean postoperative acuity of 0.68 (6/8.8), and no operative or postoperative complications were noted. BACKGROUND: Diabetic papillopathy is a benign unilateral or bilateral optic neuropathy with transient optic disk edema and minimal reduction in visual function. The optic disk edema typically resolves in a few months with no resulting optic atrophy and minimal or no decrease in acuity. The exact etiology of the disk edema is unknown, but theories include retinal vascular leakage into and surrounding the optic nerve and disruption of axoplasmic flow resulting from microvascular disease of the optic nerve head vasculature.
