Bone marrow lesions of the knee in patients with osteoarthritis (OA-BML) are an important clinical entity that may explain progressive pain, decreased quality of life, and impaired function. MRI of OA-BMLs demonstrates a region of subchondral bone with hyperintense marrow signal on T2-weighted images. CASE: A 62-year-old man presented with a posterolateral knee dislocation sustained in a motorcycle collision initially managed nonsurgically. His treatment was complicated by recurrent dislocation from noncompliance with bracing and weight-bearing restrictions and by comorbidities including peripheral artery disease, type 2 diabetes, and heavy smoking and drinking. He was treated with a multiplanar knee-spanning external fixator and patellar tendon repair without further ligamentous reconstruction. Flaccid facial paralysis results in disfiguring facial changes. The treatment of flaccid facial paralysis is complex and treatment approaches should be determined based on duration and the causes of paralysis, status and accessibility of the affected facial nerve, medical comorbidities, and patient-specific goals. Although primary nerve repair is the preferred treatment strategy when possible, nerve substitution procedures are the mainstay of treatment for patients with flaccid facial paralysis of less than 2 years duration.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the head and neck can be treated with a combination of modalities. There is an esthetic and functional compromise with midfacial defects secondary to ablative surgery and adjuvant therapies for SCC. Osteoradionecrosis, tissue contracture, and trismus, are all negative side effects of treatment and can impact a patient's function and possibly their nutrition. In this report, we describe a procedure for fabrication of a prosthesis that provides cosmetic improvement and labial competence to maintain caloric intake.
