We retrospectively analyzed the cholescintigrams and sonograms of 36 consecutive patients with gallbladder perforation to (a) determine the sensitivity of each for the preoperative detection of gallbladder perforation and (b) correlate the findings with the modified Niemeier classification. During the past 4 years, three-phase bone scintigraphy using 99mTc-MDP has been studied in 68 patients suffering from hemi-lateral hip-joint disorders. To evaluate the effects of congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) and pulmonary hypoplasia on subsequent lung function and development, we performed lung 133Xe ventilation and 99mTc perfusion scintigraphies in a group of infants who had undergone surgical repair of a severe left CDH with respiratory distress within the first 6 h of life. Lymph drainage originating from the lower esophagus and gastric cardia was determined using uptake of radioisotope (RI) in the regional lymph nodes in 19 patients with primary cancer at these sites. The use of radionuclide gastrointestinal scanning with 99mTc sulfur colloid, supplementing angiography, is described in the diagnosis of the source of bleeding in a 60-year-old woman with neurofibromatosis. These two procedures succeeded in locating the origin of bleeding from neurofibroma in the jejunum, which was corrected by surgery. To our knowledge, this case report is the first description of a patient with neurofibromatosis, with all the reported gastrointestinal symptoms: intermittent abdominal pains, palpable abdominal mass, gastrointestinal bleeding and small bowel obstruction.

Fifteen patients with intractable reflux or its complications were sequentially studied after the placement of the Angelchik antireflux prosthesis. In all, 16 devices were inserted. Over the past 5 years, we have encountered 6 cases of diffuse pulmonary uptake of 99m-Tc bone-scanning agents (incidence, 0.04%). A modified method is described for the preparation of albumin nanospheres for labelling with 99mTc by investigating the absorption behaviour of tin as a reducing agent on albumin nanospheres. These albumin nanospheres can be used for studying the reticuloendothelial system, especially that of the liver. The labelling method is very simple, and the efficiency of labelling with 99mTc is higher than 97 per cent.
