In the aim of bringing a contribution to role of the knee menisci and the functional connection between meniscal lesions and knee joint instability, four patients have been studied, who underwent arthroscopy for sub-acute tear of anterior cruciate ligament without clinical or morphological evidence of meniscal pathology. Seasonal changes of parafollicular and follicular cells of the dormouse thyroid (Myoxus glis): an ultrastructural and immunocytochemical study.

The follicular epithelium of dormouse thyroid consists of two distinct cellular types, follicular and parafollicular cells. Parafollicular cells can be easily identified by their high cytoplasmic dye-affinity for phloxine, round to ovoid shape, basal arrangement and lack of contact with follicular colloid. Early and transient osteopetrosis in microphthalmic MIB-rats.

Microphtalmic blanc mutation (mib/mib) displays a very mild form of osteopetrosis in rats. The autosomal recessive mib mutation shows pleiotropic expressions in homozygotes. Microphtalmia, absence of eye and skin pigmentation, retardation in the tooth eruption were observed in the mutants. Most bone abnormalities occurred in newborns. [Melanosomes, melanocytes and keratinocytes in the human epidermis in incontinentia pigmenti].

A functioning epidermal melanin unit implies a melanocyte capable of transferring melanosomes to keratinocytes; this requires not only melanocytes with adequate dendrites but also "receptive" keratinocytes. Skin with incontinentia pigmenti was examined by electron microscopy. Premelanosomes were occasionally found within keratinocytes and deposits of extracellular granular material that came from vacuolar degeneration of keratinocytes adjacent to melanocytes.

[Variation of the transverse apophysis of the 7th cervical vertebra: anatomo-radiological study of an isolated population].

The authors investigated the morphological changes in the transverse apophysis of C VII by Rx study on an isolated population. Two variations were mainly observed: the transverse mega-apophysis and the cervical rib. The authors found a remarkable incidence of variations, more than the average of the literature. Authors suppose that this results can be attributed at the geographical and economical isolation of the population and they hypothesize a genetic transmission of recessive autosomal type.

Evaluation of Local and Systemic Melatonin Administration on Bone Healing After Tooth Extraction in Bisphosphonate-Treated Rats.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of our study was to investigate the effects of systemic and local application of melatonin after tooth extraction in bisphosphonate applied rats, on the healing of extraction socket histopathologically and immunohistochemically. The Authors examined some anatomical parameters concerning the jejunum and ileum as the relationship between the loops, their extension, length, diameter and the wall thickness. 2019 patients have been studied by "double contrast small bowel enema". The results are in general according with the literature. Only the measure of the length changed, in fact it is shorter than that indicated in the literature.
