Disadvantaged neighborhoods, birth weight, and problem behavior in five- and six-year-old pre-school children: Evidence from a cohort born in Amsterdam.

RATIONALE: Low birth weight has been found to increase the problem behavior of children. Yet, little attention has been given to adequately account for the impact of the child's neighborhood on this relation. The residential neighborhood is a choice, based on factors that are usually not observed that may also influence birth weight and problem behavior. OBJECTIVE: Using a model that accounts for such endogeneity of both neighborhood choice and birth weight, we have analyzed behavioral problems in 4210 pre-school children between the ages of 5 and 6, birth weight, and neighborhood status, sim

Non-linear connections between maternal hemoglobin during the third trimester of pregnancy and birth weight outcomes in full-term newborns: Estimating the breakpoints.

OBJECTIVE: Anemia is still an unfinished global health problem, and adverse birth weight outcomes have everlasting influences on the health of later life. However, the non-linear connections and breakpoints of maternal hemoglobin with birth weight outcomes are still needed to be further elucidated. We aimed to reveal the non-linear connections between maternal hemoglobin during the third trimester of pregnancy and birth weight, low birth weight (LBW), macrosomia, small for gestational age (SGA), and large for gestational age (LGA) in full-term newborns and elucidate the breakpoints of the conn

The contribution of mild and moderate preterm birth to infant mortality. Fetal and Infant Health Study Group of the Canadian Perinatal Surveillance System.

CONTEXT: The World Health Organization defines preterm birth as birth at less than 37 completed gestational weeks, but most studies have focused on very preterm infants (birth at <32 weeks) because of their high risk of mortality and serious morbidity. However, infants born at 32 through 36 weeks are more common and their public health impact has not been well studied. OBJECTIVE: To assess the quantitative contribution of mild (birth at 34-36 gestational weeks) and moderate (birth at 32-33 gestational weeks) preterm birth to infant mortality. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: Population-bas

Embryo selection by non-invasive preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy in women of advanced maternal age: a randomized, clinical trial.

Non-invasive preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (niPGT-A) can detect embryo chromosomal aneuploidy by analyzing the cell-free DNA in embryo culture media. However, evidence for its clinical efficacy is insufficient. In this investigator-initiated, multicenter, double-blind, randomised controlled trial, women aged 35-42 who agreed to single frozen-thawed blastocyst transfer with at least two blastocysts were enrolled from 13 fertility centers in China. Eligible participants were randomly assigned (1:1) to the niPGT-A(n = 594) or morphology group(n = 595) using a computer-generated b

Optimizing embryo transfer strategies for women with previous cesarean delivery: A propensity score-matched comparison of fresh versus frozen-thawed cycles.

OBJECTIVE: The optimal embryo transfer strategy for women with a history of cesarean delivery (CD) remains highly controversial. CD causes uterine microenvironmental damage, especially cesarean scar niche formation and chronic low-grade inflammation, both of which severely impair endometrial receptivity. Supraphysiological hormones during controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) further exacerbate these harmful conditions, creating a "double hit" that compromises implantation. This study aimed to compare the reproductive outcomes of fresh embryo transfer (fresh ET) versus a "freeze-all" frozen-tha

Large artery stiffness is elevated in women with a prior pregnancy conceived via in vitro fertilization.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is an effective treatment for infertility; however, IVF may increase future maternal cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. Vascular dysfunction, characterized by increased large elastic artery stiffness and endothelial dysfunction, predicts future CVD risk. However, whether IVF use influences maternal vascular dysfunction is unknown. We studied premenopausal women with a live birth within the past 1-5 yr conceived either without medical assistance (n = 24) or via IVF (n = 15), matched for age, body fat percentage, and seated blood pressure. Large artery stiffness (car

Real-World Prescribing Patterns of Clomiphene Citrate for Male Infertility: A National Cross-Sectional Survey of Urologists in Türkiye.

Background/Objectives: Clomiphene citrate (CC) is widely used off-label for male infertility despite limited evidence and inconsistent guideline recommendations. Although previous studies suggest variability in clinical practice, real-world data on prescribing patterns, patient selection, monitoring, and treatment success definitions remain limited. This study assessed CC prescribing patterns among urologists and identified factors associated with its use. Methods: A national, cross-sectional, web-based survey was conducted among urologists in Türkiye between November and December 2025. Of 155

Intrauterine infusion of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) versus granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) prior to single frozen blastocyst transfer in women with thin endometrium: a study protocol for a multicentre sequential multiple assignment randomised trial.

INTRODUCTION: A thin endometrium (TE) is associated with reduced reproductive potential, including lower implantation rates and increased obstetric risks. While intrauterine infusion of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) is commonly used, robust evidence for their efficacy remains lacking. This trial aims to compare the effectiveness of PRP versus G-CSF in women with TE using a sham-controlled, sequential multiple assignment randomised trial (SMART) design. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This is a triple-blind, multicentre SMART study conducted at fo

The effects of growth hormone on the outcomes of in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer in age-grouped patients with decreased ovarian reserve: a prospective cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Growth hormone (GH) could improve the outcomes of in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) in patients with decreased ovarian reserve (DOR), but which age group will benefit the most has remained controversial. This study aims to explore the outcome of IVF-ET among differently aged patients with DOR treated with GH. METHODS: A total of 846 patients with DOR undergoing IVF-ET from May 2018 to June 2023 at the Reproductive Medicine Center of Sichuan Provincial Women's and Children's Hospital were prospectively enrolled. The patients were divided into group A (< 35 year ol
