OBJECTIVE: To determine the willingness to pay (WTP) for local ivermectin distribution in a community financing framework.
METHOD: Contingent valuation in three communities in Nigeria, using randomly selected household heads. WTP was elicited using a bidding game, and for collecting information on the households' socio-economic status, level of knowledge, priority ranking and perception of risk of contracting the disease, structured questionnaires were used. BACKGROUND: The use of oral opioids in non-cancer pain is increasing, but it is not clear that this is improving outcomes for patients. These management strategies were developed as a consensus view between the two authors, who are both Directors of the Australian Pain Society. Commuter aircraft and air taxis are far more likely to be involved in fatal crashes than are larger airplanes. The relation between consumption of regular and decaffeinated coffee and other methylxanthine-containing beverages and bladder cancer was analysed in a case-control study in two different areas of northern Italy (555 cases and 855 controls). In a cross-sectional study of 2684 males from a range of occupations the prevalence rate for back pain was 20% (11% disc disease and 9% undetermined pain) and about half of these had pain related to the lower back with the remainder being located in the dorsoscapular or cervical regions. Effects of Michigan's law requiring all young children to be restrained when traveling in automobiles were assessed. Data on all reported residents of the state who were involved in crashes from 1978 through 1983 were examined using times-series analysis methods. Reported restraint use among injured children younger than 4 years of age involved in crashes increased from 12% before to 51% after the law was implemented.
