Validation of the Hindi version of the Edinburgh postnatal depression scale (EPDS): Translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and psychometric evaluation in postpartum mothers.

BACKGROUND: Postpartum depression (PPD) is a significant global public health concern, with a high prevalence in India. While the EPDS is widely used, there is a lack of rigorous validation studies specifically for Hindi-speaking postpartum mothers. AIM: This study aimed to translate, culturally adapt, and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Hindi EPDS in postpartum mothers against a clinical diagnosis. METHODS: An observational study was conducted at a tertiary care hospital involving 181 mothers, 48 hours to 7 days after childbirth. The original English EPDS underwent a five-stage

Developing NANDA-I, NOC, and NIC Linkages for the Diagnosis of Excessive Loneliness.

BackgroundLoneliness is increasingly recognized as a multidimensional public health concern associated with adverse mental, physical, and social outcomes. Despite its relevance, loneliness remains conceptually heterogeneous and insufficiently operationalized in clinical practice. The NANDA-I diagnosis Excessive Loneliness (00475) captures the subjective and emotional nature of this experience; however, updated evidence-based linkages with the Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC) and Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC) revealed that critical factors were missing.AimTo develop evidence-b

A qualitative investigation of organizational challenges and facilitators to screening individuals experiencing homelessness for hepatitis C virus (HCV) in Houston, Texas.

BACKGROUND: Individuals experiencing homelessness may be at a disproportionately high risk for hepatitis C (HCV) because they may be more likely to engage in HCV risk behaviors. Community organizations that provide services to these vulnerable individuals can effectively screen, diagnose, and navigate them into HCV care. However, screening people experiencing homelessness for HCV at such organizations is limited by various challenges that remain understudied, including budgetary considerations and strategies to improve teamwork and communication. Accordingly, this study investigated the organi

Distribution of biopsied gingival lesions according to the proceedings from the 2017 World Workshop classification: A three-year retrospective study.

BACKGROUND: The gingiva is a common site for neoplastic or non-neoplastic lesions. Neoplasms refer to progressive autonomous growth that can have either a benign or a malignant course. On the other hand, non-neoplastic lesions are mainly inflammatory, or occur as a reaction to some kind of irritation or lowgrade injury. OBJECTIVES: Assessing the frequency distribution of gingival lesions is important to optimize oral health care services. The present study retrospectively analyzed the frequency distribution of gingival lesions on the basis of the 2017 World Workshop on the Classification of P

A mixed-methods approach to understanding the perspectives, experiences, and attitudes of a culturally tailored cognitive behavioral therapy/motivational interviewing intervention for African American patients with type 2 diabetes: a randomized parallel design pilot study.

BACKGROUND: African American (AA) adults are 60% more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes mellitus (DM) and experience more complications than non-Hispanic White adults. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has shown to be an effective modality for helping patients improve health behaviors and regulate emotional states. Motivational interviewing (MI) addresses participant engagement and motivation. Therefore, MI was combined with CBT as an approach to the process of learning using CBT skills to promote healthy lifestyle choices. We aimed to assess the effects of a culturally tailored CBT/MI int

Psychosocial influences in the development of cumulative trauma disorders.

STUDY DESIGN: This study is a single-phase, qualitative study using grounded theory methodology. INTRODUCTION: Cumulative trauma disorders (CTDs) are musculoskeletal disorders that impact health and productivity. CTD risk factors are present in the workplace, home, and community. Occupational and physical therapists specializing in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation (hand therapists) are widely involved with this population. Hand therapists often employ a medical model in the assessment and treatment of these conditions; however, the medical model has not proven to be consistently effect

Development of a comprehensive real-world evidence dataset to inform diabetes policy: the diabetes data cell project.

BACKGROUND: Diabetes is a highly prevalent non-communicable disease with a growing global burden, posing significant challenges to healthcare systems. Effective management requires comprehensive monitoring of prevalence, risk factors, and outcomes across diverse diabetes populations. While several European countries have established or are establishing national diabetes registries to guide care and policy, Belgium's diabetes data landscape remains fragmented, lacking a unified national diabetes registry. Existing datasets cover limited populations and care settings, hindering a complete unders

Camphor Poisoning: an evidence-based practice guideline for out-of-hospital management.

A review of national poison center data from 1990 through 2003 showed approximately 10,000 annual ingestion exposures to camphor-containing products. A guideline that determines the threshold dose for emergency department referral and need for pre-hospital decontamination could potentially avoid unnecessary emergency department visits, reduce health care costs, optimize patient outcome, and reduce life disruption for patients and caregivers. An evidence-based expert consensus process was used to create the guideline. Relevant articles were abstracted by a trained physician researcher. The firs

Consensus statement on the application of artificial intelligence in osteoporosis screening and management: perspectives from the Asia-Pacific region.

UNLABELLED: Osteoporosis is a major and growing health concern in the Asia-Pacific region, y et it remains widely underdiagnosed and undertreated due to limited access to dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in many areas. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers new opportunities to improve osteoporosis screening and management, but unvalidated tools pose risks of inconsistent care. This consensus was developed to provide regionally harmonized guidance on the safe, effective, and equitable use of AI in osteoporosis care. PURPOSE: The aim of this work was to establish expert consensus recommenda
