The stroke-volume ratio determined from the equilibrium gated blood-pool study has been utilized to assess valvular regurgitation, but it is difficult to get reproducible results using generally available equipment. We have developed a new approach utilizing the Fourier amplitude ratio of the left and right ventricles, which is easily implemented and reproducible. Initial clinical experience shows that 17 patients with valvular regurgitation were clearly distinguished from 30 patients without valve disease.

Two cases of isolated chylopericardium, one idiopathic and the other secondary to the lymphangioma of the pericardium are reported here. In 82 subjects 82 gastric emptying studies using Tc-99m triethylene tetramine polystyrene resin were retrospectively evaluated. All six patients with diabetic gastroenteropathy (GE) had delayed biologic gastric emptying time (BGET) that responded well to metoclopramide (MP) injection. Three patients with foregut (bronchial), hindgut (rectal) or (ovarian) carcinoid tumors had symptomatic bone metastasis with abnormal 99m Tc pyrophosphate bone scans and bone roentgenograms. Six patients with midgut (small intestine or caecal) carcinoid) carcinoid tumors who had no symptoms of bone metastasis had no evidence of bone metastasis on bone scan or bone roentgenographic examination. A retrospective study of 795 consecutive bone scans employing either 18F or 99mTc-pyrophosphate to evaluate the diagnostic value of renal asymmetry in such scans has been carried out. It is concluded that asymmetric renal images in bone scans convey relatively specific information regarding renal pathology, especially in the 99mTc-pyrophosphate studies.

The results of liver scans performed with 99mTc-sulphur colloid in 169 patients suffering from diffuse liver diseases and in 48 normal controls were evaluated. In 20 patients with acute major cerebral arterial occlusion, follow-up angiograms were obtained to inspect the occluded artery. These angiograms were compared with brain scans in the fourth week after the stroke.
