Erlotinib is an epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor that is responsible for several cutaneous side effects. We report a case of hand-foot syndrome associated with a papulo-pustular and seborrheic dermatitis-like eruption of the face in a 61-year-old patient treated with erlotinib for lung cancer.

Postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) is a benign but cosmetically disturbing skin lesion, which is notoriously difficult to treat. Standard treatments include topical application of bleaching creams and gels. In this case report, we show that fractional photothermolysis might be a new successful option in the treatment of PIH. Its efficacy must be confirmed by further studies and balanced against possible side effects, but the initial results are promising.

Shiitake (Lentinus edodes) is a mushroom that is very popular in Asian cuisine. After ingestion of the raw fungus, dermatitis may occur in rare cases, and is commonly assumed to be a toxic reaction. We report a 52-year-old man who developed a generalized pruritic papulovesicular eruption 2 weeks after daily consumption of uncooked shiitake mushrooms. OBJECTIVES: To report a dental nurse with facial eczema supposedly caused by airborne methacrylates present in the work environment.

Benzalkonium chloride (BAK) is an acknowledged irritant but has also been identified as a cause of allergic contact dermatitis. The antiseptic bath emollient Oilatum Plus (Stiefel, High Wycombe, U.K.) contains a relatively high concentration of 6% BAK. We describe six patients who presented with flexural eczema, particularly involving the anogenital area, who had a history of using Oilatum Plus. Patch testing showed all six to have a type 4 allergy to BAK as well as other allergens. Avoidance of Oilatum Plus led to a resolution of the flexural eczema in each case.

A group of industrial painters employed in 6 companies of the Norwegian oil industry was followed to assess the incidence of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) caused by exposure to epoxy resin systems. The study lasted from 1 September 1997 to 31 August 2001 and included 2236 workers, contributing 5113 person years.
