Seconds-Integrated Monolithic System of Zn-Ion Micro-Battery and Multi-Functional Sensors for Robotic Autonomous Tactile Sensing.

Highly integrated devices that combine energy storage with multi-functional sensing capabilities are pivotal for advancing the practical implementation of intelligent microsystems. However, their development is often hindered by inefficient manufacturing, reliability degradation stemming from interfacial mismatches, and challenges in achieving high-performance, interference-free operation. Herein, we demonstrate an ultrafast and efficient strategy to construct a monolithic multifunctional sensing and energy storage system via the Joule heating effect. This strategy enables seamless integration

DAER-YOLO: Defect-Aware and Edge-Reconstruction Enhanced YOLO for Surface Defect Detection of Varistors.

Varistors are critical overvoltage protection components in modern power electronic systems. They effectively absorb and dissipate surge energy to ensure the safe and stable operation of electrical equipment. However, surface defects can lead to substandard performance or even trigger equipment failure, compromising overall system stability. Therefore, high-precision surface defect detection is essential for quality assurance. To address these challenges, we propose a lightweight model termed Defect-Aware and Edge-Reconstruction Enhanced YOLO (DAER-YOLO) for efficient varistor inspection. Firs

YOLO-FLBM: a lightweight and high-performance model for tomato ripeness detection in complex greenhouse environments.

Real-time detection of tomato ripeness in complex greenhouse environments presents a significant dual challenge: the interference caused by foliage occlusion and fruit overlapping demands high detection accuracy, while the limited computational resources of harvesting robots necessitate model lightweighting. To address this, we propose YOLO-FLBM, a lightweight, high-performance model based on the enhanced YOLOv8s architecture. First, the backbone network was reconstructed using FasterNet to minimize redundancy, establishing a streamlined foundation for edge deployment. Second, an innovative ne

Lightweight vision architecture deployed in the terminal for safety monitoring and early warning of transmission lines.

Intrusion of hazardous objects into critical transmission lines can directly cause severe accidents, including large-area power outages and even electric shock casualties. However, current monitoring systems remain constrained by single-sensing modalities, such as monocular/binocular vision or Light Detection and Ranging. They fail to achieve reliable real-time three-dimensional perception and lack correlative analysis between external hazard intrusions and the safe clearance distances of transmission lines across complex multi-terrain scene. This study proposes a lightweight vision framework.

Directional motion of a self-steering active intruder in a dense crowd of cognitive active agents.

The fast and efficient directed motion of particles through crowded environments is challenging problem. In this work, the surface-bound motion of an intruder in a crowd of identical active agents is studied by overdamped Langevin dynamics simulations. Both intruder and agents are modeled as intelligent active Brownian particles (iABPs) with visual perception and directional steering to avoid collisions - which implies non-reciprocal interactions between all particles. The reorientation of intruder and agents is limited by their maximal maneuverability, which controls the ability of an iABP to

Unraveling novel umami-enhancing peptides in rice bran protein and its umami-enhancing mechanism by multisensory evaluation and computational simulation.

This study explored the potential of rice bran protein-derived peptides to enhance umami perception. By applying single-factor optimization, ultrafiltration, and ethanol precipitation, rice bran protein hydrolysates with pronounced umami intensity were prepared. An integrated virtual screening workflow identified ten candidate umami peptides, whose umami-enhancing effects were quantified by sensory evaluation (quantitative descriptive analysis, time-intensity, and S-shaped curve) and electronic tongue. Among them, TDPF, DPDWL, WGDP, and LDGF, when added to monosodium glutamate (MSG) solutions

Assessment of the potential bioaccessibility of 210Po, 232Th and uranium radionuclides from snus to consumers.

Snus is an oral moist smokeless tobacco product with high nicotine content, provided in small pouches or loose form to be placed under the lip. It is the most common way to consume tobacco in Sweden, due to the perception of being less harmful. However, snus contains carcinogenic ingredients such as tobacco-specific nitrosamines and high radiotoxicity radionuclides. The current study had investigated the radioactivity levels of 210Po, 232Th, 234U and 238U in 16 Swedish snus products as well as the capacity of saliva to extract them from snus. The higher activity concentration was measured for

A Bioinspired Perceptual Sensor for Spatiotemporal Decoding of Haptic and Pain Stimuli in Prostheses.

Phantom limb pain, a common sequela in lower-limb amputees, impairs their ability to accurately perceive and distinguish between haptic and pain sensations, thereby hindering residual limb function and reducing rehabilitation efficacy. Although existing prosthetic technologies seek to restore sensory function, they often fail to provide real-time localization of haptic stimuli and effectively integrate pain feedback, resulting in an inability to deliver cohesive tactile and nociceptive cues. Here, we present a bioinspired perceptual sensor (BPS) capable of spatiotemporally decoding haptic and

Distinct roles of central and peripheral vision in rapid scene understanding.

Central and peripheral vision loss, caused by conditions such as age-related macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa, disrupt visual processing in distinct ways, yet their impact on real-world scene perception remains poorly understood. Here, we used a real-time, gaze-contingent simulation to examine how central vision loss and peripheral vision loss alter eye movements and scene understanding. Sighted participants (n = 32, five males) viewed 120 real-world scenes (50% social interaction, 50% neutral) under one- or three-saccade constraints and described each scene; description quality w

Gout Inflammation Time Programming: Molecular Clock from Crystal Triggering to Tissue Remodeling.

This review introduces and elaborates a novel temporal paradigm, the "Gout Inflammation Time Programming" model, conceptualized through the Gout-STAT™ framework. This model redefines gout inflammation as a dynamic continuum progressing through three precisely timed phases: an acute Perception phase (0-24 h) initiated by monosodium urate (MSU) crystal recognition, triggering the NOD-like receptor thermal protein domain associated protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome and neutrophil-driven burst; a critical Adaptation phase (24-72 h) where outcomes are determined by immunometabolic reprogramming of mac

"Why Me?!" An Attribution Perspective on Employees' Flight-or-Fight Responses to Customer Mistreatment.

Drawing on attribution theories, this study presents an integrated moderated serial mediation model to explain when and why customer mistreatment is associated with victimized employees' contrasting "flight" and "fight" responses. Specifically, we propose that observed customer mistreatment serves as an individually perceived social cue that shapes how employees interpret and respond to their own mistreatment experiences. When similar mistreatment is rarely observed among colleagues, employees are more likely to see themselves as singled out, a perception accompanied by greater self-blame and,

Neuromorphic Light-Responsive Organic Matter for in Materia Reservoir Computing.

Materials able to sense and respond to external stimuli by adapting their internal state to process and store information, represent promising candidates for implementing neuromorphic functionalities and brain-inspired computing paradigms. In this context, neuromorphic systems based on light-responsive materials enable the use of light as information carrier, allowing to emulate basic functions of the human retina. In this work it is demonstrated that optically-induced molecular dynamics in azopolymers can be exploited for neuromorphic-type of data processing in the analog domain and for compu
