We present a derma-respiratory syndrome in a patient occupationally exposed to trichloroethylene (TCE). At the beginning of its industrial use trichloroethylene was considered harmless. But, in time it showed a high noxious capacity. It produces an important and various pathology, which evolves as acute or chronic disease. BACKGROUND: The study was intended to estimate the incidence of intraoperative surgical complications with the impact of the educational level of the surgeon and a history of previous cesarean section on intraoperative complications at cesarean childbirth.
METHODS: In the period between August 1st 1995 and July 30th 1996, 7782 women gave birth at the three Obstetric Departments in Copenhagen County, Denmark, of which 929 (11.9%) were delivered by cesarean section. These women served as the study population, and their medical records were reviewed and data obtained immediately after delivery.

Of the numerous precipitants of hepatic decompensation in chronic liver disease, there are no reports in the literature documenting an acute decompensation following an acute episode of severe dermatitis. This case highlights the haemodynamic consequences of a severe flare up of exfoliative dermatitis in a patient with stable chronic alcoholic liver disease, speculates on the mechanism by which this may provoke clinical decompensation and the impact this may have upon liver failure.

A 48-year-old Japanese man developed coalesced erythema multiforme-like lesions on the forearms and the dorsa of hands that were exposed to a cutting oil product. Subsequently, multiple, round erythematous lesions with iris formation occurred on the trunk and four extremities that had no direct contact with the oil. It is suggested that erythema multiforme can be induced via some allergic processes following a contact reaction.

Sodium dihydroxycetyl phosphate (trade name Dragophos S 2/918501) was identified as a contact allergen in a herbal moisturizing cream causing severe acute contact dermatitis on the hands and face of a 41-year-old woman. Sodium dihydroxycetyl phosphate is a complex mixture of phosphate esters of dihydroxycetyl alcohol, and subsequent analysis and testing revealed hexadecane-1,2-diol as 1 of the allergenic ingredients. Another possible allergen in the compound appears to be hexadecane-1,2-diol, 2-isopropyl ether.

CASE-REPORTS: We report on 4 cases of contact dermatitis due to alcohol in 4 women. Eczema was due to alcohol contained in the reservoir of a transdermal transfer system with estrogens in 2 cases and related to the application of alcoholized antiseptic lotions in the other 2 cases.
