Travel is now a reasonable objective of CKD patients after renal transplantation. However, immunosuppressive treatment makes them particularly susceptible to infections and may interfere with vaccinations and other drugs. Travel in countries with low health level should be strongly discouraged in the first six months after transplantation or following an acute event. Twenty-one patients with chronic myeloproliferative disorders, eleven with polycythemia vera (PV) and ten with essential thrombocythemia (ET), were treated with small doses of alpha-2a interferon (IFN).
