This article presents the results of a qualitative study based on patient records from a public health clinic and focusing on four therapeutic groups from 1995 to 1997. We studied to assess the validity of the glycophorin A (GPA) mutant assay as a biological marker of the cumulative effects of chronic low doses of ionizing radiation. In 144 nuclear power plants workers and 32 hospital workers, information on confounding factors, such as age and cigarette smoking, was obtained through a self-administered questionnaire. BACKGROUND: Quantitative methods for describing the social effects of occupational injury and illness are evaluated including surveys of prevalence and ratings of severity of social role disability.
METHODS: The reliability and validity for the injured worker population of the most commonly used general and condition-specific role disability measures is reviewed and summarized. This review is used to support the development of a prototype strategy for quantifying the social consequences of occupational injuries and to identify areas of need for further research and development.

Agricultural workers are exposed to a variety of hazards that increase their risk for dermatitis. Nevertheless, the prevalence, patterns, and risk factors for dermatitis have not been well characterized among farmers in the United States. METHODS: Conversions were analyzed by prison and by job category.
RESULTS: The conversion rate was 1.9%. INTRODUCTION: Both tinnitus and hearing loss (THL) have negative impacts on the health and readiness of our active duty military service members (ADSM).
