Theoretical advances using the peritoneovenous shunt were proven in clinical practice over a 12-year period of experience with this system. Continuous reinfusion of protein- and electrolyte-rich ascitic fluid improves the circulating plasma volume and seems to avoid hepatorenal syndrome. The quality of life is improved by the significant decrease in weight and ascitic volume: long-time survival seems to be improved when compared with patient groups without treatment by continuous peritoneovenous shunt. Non-operative management has frequently been adopted for closed injuries of the infraclavicular brachial plexus and its branches in the belief that spontaneous recovery is likely to occur, and surgical exploration is performed only if recovery has not occurred in the expected time. From 1966 to 1974 231 acetabuloplasties were performed in 193 children. Dega's technique was not consequently observed in these operations. The follow-up was made in 166 children with 202 acetabuloplasties. 65 per cent of the operated hips were found within the normal range. In a retrospective study, 12 patients with acute acromioclavicular dislocation Tossy stage III were reviewed after operative treatment with a clavicle hook plate. Mean follow-up time was 20 months. Functional endoscopic sinus surgery has altered the surgical treatment of sinus disease in adults. We report our experience with functional endoscopic sinus surgery in the pediatric population. Functional endoscopic sinus surgery was safe and effective and compared favorably with traditional surgery with regard to operative time, blood loss, and parental opinion.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Few studies have compared modified endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) techniques for small rectal neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). This study evaluated the clinical outcomes of ligation-assisted EMR (EMR-L) and precutting EMR (EMR-P) for the treatment of small rectal NETs.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent EMR-L or EMR-P for rectal NETs ≤ 10 mm at four university hospitals between January 2018 and December 2022.
