Colloid goitres are a common, benign lesion of the thyroid gland, that involve a diffuse or nodular pattern. An important feature of colloid goitre is the contained colloid material inside and the comet-tail artefacts, which show up on ultrasound. However, some cases of colloid goitre do not show a comet-tail sign and sometimes these artefacts need to be distinguished from microcalcifications in malignant lesions. This review discusses the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, ultrasound features and management of colloid goitres.

BACKGROUND: With the approval of adjuvant therapy for stage III melanoma, accurate staging is more important than ever. Sentinel node biopsy (SNB) is an accurate staging tool, yet the presence of capsular nevi (CN) can lead to a false-positive diagnosis.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Retrospective analysis of the American Joint Committee on Cancer 7th edition stage IIIA melanoma patients who were treated at our institute between 2000 and 2015. SNB slides were reviewed for this study by an expert melanoma pathologist.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to review patients with xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis (XGC).
METHODS: A total of 79 patients diagnosed with XGC were included in the study. The criteria for XGC in the pathology specimens were the presence of histiocytes, cholesterol deposits, lipids, and focal or widespread wall enlargement.
