Robotic Partial Central Hepatectomy for Juxtahilar Tumor: Technique of Middle Hepatic Vein Tangential Reconstruction.

BACKGROUND: Minimally invasive techniques for resection of centrally located tumors near the region of hepatic duct bifurcation poses technical concerns to many hepatobiliary surgeons. Excessive bleeding, inadvertent injury to the hilar plate with subsequent bile leak and abdominal sepsis, and involvement of the middle hepatic vein (MHV) often deter surgeons from using a minimally invasive technique in this circumstance. An emerging robotic method with advantages over conventional laparoscopy offers greater technical feasibility for peri-/juxtahilar dissections and MHV ligation/reconstruction.

Factors associated with textbook outcome after robotic-assisted pancreatoduodenectomy: a single surgeon's retrospective cohort.

BACKGROUND: Textbook outcome (TO) represents as an important parameter in assessing the quality of surgical procedures. The factors that contributed to the achievement of the TO in robotic-assisted pancreaticoduodenectomy (RPD) have not been well-documented. This study aimed to analyze the TO in the consecutive series of RPD performed by one single surgeon and identify perioperative factors that are independently associated with TO. METHODS: A cohort of 302 patients who underwent RPD by one single surgeon at First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University between July 2016 and August 2024

Robotic-Assisted Ascending Hemicolectomy for Colon Cancer in a Patient With Situs Inversus Totalis: A Case Report.

We present a case of robotic-assisted ascending hemicolectomy in an 82-year-old woman with situs inversus totalis. The patient underwent a screening colonoscopy, during which a polypoid lesion in the ascending colon was discovered. Biopsy results revealed a tubular adenoma with high-grade dysplasia. An ascending hemicolectomy with radical lymphadenectomy was subsequently performed, leading to a final diagnosis of a tubulovillous adenoma with focal intramucosal carcinoma, negative for metastatic disease. The challenges related to instrument handling during surgery in patients with situs inversu

Trueness analysis of a robot-assisted system for maxillary supernumerary anterior tooth removal: an in vitro study.

The present study explored the trueness of active robotic system-assisted cortical-window osteotomy and tooth sectioning relative to conventional freehand surgery, employing a labial approach to remove impacted maxillary midline supernumerary teeth. Standardized three-dimensional maxillary replicas containing an impacted midline supernumerary tooth were randomized into an Active Robot-assisted Group (ARG) or a Freehand Group (FHG). Preoperative CBCT and intraoral scans were merged to plan osteotomy and tooth sectioning trajectories. Parameters analyzed included cortical-window formation and to

Quality of life (QoL) following transoral robotic surgery (TORS) resection of parapharyngeal space tumours.

INTRODUCTION: Parapharyngeal space tumours (PSTs) can be challenging to manage in view of their distinct location and proximity to vital neurovascular structures. Numerous surgical approaches have been described including minimally invasive techniques utilising transoral robotic surgery (TORS). This study aims to evaluate the role of TORS in the management of PSTs with a special focus on quality of life (QoL) outcomes. METHODS: A systematic search was performed to evaluate the existing literature surrounding the management of PSTs with TORS. In addition, all patients at our tertiary unit were

Robot-Assisted Gait Training for Achieving Gait Symmetry in a Subacute Stroke Patient: A Case Report.

Gait asymmetry in post-stroke patients is an important gait characteristic that is associated with their balance control, inefficiency, and risks of musculoskeletal injury to the non-paretic lower limb and falling. Unfortunately, most stroke patients retain an asymmetrical gait pattern, even though their gait independence and gait speed improve. We describe the clinical course of a subacute stroke patient who achieved a symmetrical gait at discharge after undergoing both gait training with orthoses and robot-assisted gait training from the early intervention phase. A Korean woman in her 50s de

Bioinspired Multifunctional Self-Sensing Actuated Gradient Hydrogel for Soft-Hard Robot Remote Interaction.

The development of bioinspired gradient hydrogels with self-sensing actuated capabilities for remote interaction with soft-hard robots remains a challenging endeavor. Here, we propose a novel multifunctional self-sensing actuated gradient hydrogel that combines ultrafast actuation and high sensitivity for remote interaction with robotic hand. The gradient network structure, achieved through a wettability difference method involving the rapid precipitation of MoO2 nanosheets, introduces hydrophilic disparities between two sides within hydrogel. This distinctive approach bestows the hydrogel wit

Assessing the Effect of Cervical Transcutaneous Spinal Stimulation With an Upper Limb Robotic Exoskeleton and Surface Electromyography.

Transcutaneous spinal stimulation (TSS) is a promising rehabilitative intervention to restore motor function and coordination for individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI). The effects of TSS are most commonly assessed by evaluating muscle response to stimulation using surface electromyography (sEMG). Given the increasing use of robotic devices to deliver therapy and the emerging potential of hybrid rehabilitation interventions that combine neuromodulation with robotic devices, there is an opportunity to leverage the on-board sensors of the robots to measure kinematic and torque changes of joi
