An experiment was conducted to elucidate the origin of tetraploids (2n = 4x = 44) of Paragonimus westermani that occur together with diploid (2n = 2x = 22) and triploid (2n = 3x = 33) types in Liaoning Province, the People's Republic of China. Antisperm antibodies were studied in 44 patients with less than 14 years of age, with unilateral testicle torsion and other testicular pathologies with vascular and inflammatory processes. The clinical and evolution of testicular size after one year of initial evaluation were obtained. During 1-20 days of pregnancy rats were given 20% alcohol orally in a dose 0.4 mg/kg bw. This led to a significant increase in the nuclear volume of germ cells in male 19-day embryos. A karyological analysis of 2-month offspring germ cell generations at stage VII of seminiferous epithelium cycle revealed a reliable decrease in the number of spermatids on step 7 of development after introduction of antenatal alcohol. The increased proportion of spermatocytes with meiotic chromosomes pathological behaviour due to alcohol was determined by the proposed quantitative analysis of meiotic divisions.

Human sperm chromosomes were studied in a man heterozygous for a pericentric inversion of chromosome 3(p25q21). Unilateral cryptorchidism is frequently accompanied by infertility. Uncertainty exists as to whether the infertility is a genetic effect or is related to an autoimmune reaction to the elevated testis. The possible effects of cigarette smoking on sperm quality were investigated in a blind study of 333 healthy male volunteers 19 to 40 years of age. All subjects with clinically proven abnormalities, operations, or inflammatory diseases of the genital organs, exposure to radiation exceeding routine x-ray examination, or medication were excluded, and the data from 150 smokers, 37 ex-smokers, and 52 never-smokers were evaluated. Cyproterone acetate (CA) was toxic for Didelphis virginiana at a dose range of 22-28 mg/kg IM. A loss of spermatozoal pairing int the cauda epididymidis did not occur until 2 wk after testicular degeneration caused by CA. The isomers of 1-amino-3-chloro-2-propanol hydrochloride (CL 88,236 and CL 88,237) were well tolerated by the opossum at doses up to 30 mg/kg IM. After 8 days of CL 88,236 and CL 88,237 treatment there was no effect on spermatozoal pairing in the cauda epididymidis or on the seminiferous epithelium.
