Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a potent B cell transforming pathogen in humans. In most persistently EBV-infected individuals, potent cytotoxic lymphocyte responses prevent EBV-associated pathologies. In addition to comprehensive adaptive T cell responses, several innate lymphocyte populations seem to target different stages of EBV infection and are compromised in primary immunodeficiencies that render individuals susceptible to symptomatic EBV infection. 5'-Nucleotidase activity was demonstrated in the cell membrane of normal and leukemic lymphocytic cells by an improved cytochemical method. In the normal blood lymphocytes an average percentage of 20.6 +/- 2.9 5-nucleotidase positive (5 N +) cells were found. We aimed to investigate if women with recurrent miscarriage disclosed abnormalities in the maturation and activation status of peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets. In a case control study, 24 women with recurrent miscarriage, 37 women with children but no history of miscarriage and 39 women without previous pregnancies were evaluated. Skin lymphomas are now divided into "T" or thymic cell lymphomas (mycosis fungoides being the principal type) and "B" cell lymphomas after the bursa of Fabricius. We studied the expression of activation markers CD25 and CD69 by blood lymphocytes in white mice vaccinated with Brucella abortus 19 BA in antigen-specific tests in vitro. T(CD3+)-, B(CD19+)-lymphocytes and their subsets (CD4+, CD8+, CD3+ DR+, CD3- DR+) in peripheral blood of patients with CIN I, CIN II, CIN III and cancer in situ associated with HPV infection were evaluated. In peripheral blood of women with CIN II, CIN III and cancer in situ the number of T-lymphocytes which expressed CD3+ DR+ antigen decreased. This study was performed on a lot of 51 patients and intends to correlate the autoimmune thyroiditis to the synthesis of Th1 cytokines and to the activation of T lymphocytes. We find out that CD25, an activation marker of T lymphocytes, is significantly increased in these patients. Studies of adoptive transfer of resistance to Histoplasma capsulatum were performed with athymic nude (nu/nu) recipients and heterozygous (nu/+) donor mice. A study of cell-mediated immunity was carried out in total of 69 subjects with alopecia areata (AA) of the scalp in various phases of its evolution.
