Micronuclei can be measured through a conventional method after staining with Giemsa or fluorescence dyes for DNA. However, a technique with cell proliferation control should be preferred. This is done by incubation with cytochalasin B and counting the micronuclei in binucleated cells. Satisfactory dose relationships are observed after irradiation of human lymphocytes in vitro. OBJECTIVE: Rapid urease tests (RUTs) are used commonly as a convenient method to detect Helicobacter pylori infection. New rapid tests have been commercially available with promotional literature suggesting enhanced utility. We compared CLOtest to a new reagent strip RUT, PyloriTek.
METHODS: Gastric antral mucosal biopsy specimens were obtained from 102 patients for comparison between CLOtest and PyloriTek (204 specimens). PURPOSE: Cell-mediated collagen gel contraction plays an important role in the pathogenesis of proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR). Anti-adhesion therapy has been suggested as a promising strategy in the treatment of PVR. Crovidisin, a snake venom protein isolated from Crotalus viridis, has been shown to bind selectively to collagen and to inhibit collagen-induced platelet aggregation. In the present study, the effectiveness of crovidisin in inhibiting the attachment of retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells to collagen, and RPE cell-mediated collagen gel contraction, was evaluated.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to assess the cytotoxicity and proliferation effects of cold ceramic (CC) on stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth(SHEDs) compared to mineral trioxide aggregate(MTA).
METHODS: In this in vitro study, the cytotoxicity of fresh and set MTA and CC for SHEDs was assessed after 24 and 72 h using the methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium(MTT) assay.
