BACKGROUND: This review aims to explore advances in the field of cerebral palsy (CP) focusing on machine learning (ML) models. The objectives of this study is to analyze the advances in the application of ML models in the field of CP and to compare the performance of different ML algorithms in terms of their effectiveness in CP identification, classifying CP into its subtypes, prediction of abnormalities in CP, and its management. These objectives guide the review in examining how ML techniques are applied to CP and their potential impact on improving outcomes in CP research and treatment.

The efficacy of a topical agent in barrier recovery was evaluated after acetone-induced acute water loss barrier disruption in vivo in humans. The upper back of several volunteers was rubbed with acetone-soaked cotton balls until elevated rates of transepidermal water loss (TEWL) occurred (> 20 g/m2h, or greater). Eight allergic patch test reactions, eight irritant skin reactions induced by 3% sodium lauryl sulphate and six normal controls were biopsied. Biopsies were immunohistochemically stained with a mouse monoclonal antibody to inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and staining was quantified by computerised image analysis. A case of allergic contact dermatitis to a shampoo containing zinc pyrithione associated with an eruption of pustular psoriasis is reported. The patient had had stable psoriasis for 5 years, and never any other skin disease. Within 1 week she developed severe generalized pustular psoriasis with many lesions where the shampoo was applied. We surveyed data collected in our department over the past 5 years on all patients under the age of 30 years who had presented for repair of retinal detachment. Of 52 such patients, 10 (19.2%) had a documented history of atopic dermatitis. Three (27.3%) of the 11 eyes (10 patients) with atopic dermatitis exhibited a break in the ciliary epithelium in the pars plicata and pars plana, the most characteristic finding in this group. A national survey of 1937 members of the Canadian Celiac Association was conducted by mail questionnaire in June 1989 to study problems in diagnosing and managing celiac disease (CD) and dermatitis herpetiformis. Although 82% of the 1294 respondents were biopsied, 14% were diagnosed by their dramatic response to the gluten-free diet. Fifteen percent of biopsy-proven respondents saw five or more doctors before CD was diagnosed. Mean delays in diagnosis ranged from 5.8 (±10.9) years for those with nausea or vomiting to 13.9 (±14.5) years for those with headache or migraine.

Two patients developed halo eczema around isolated seborrhoeic keratoses and in one individual similar halo eczema developed around the nipples. This phenomenon which was previously described with melanocytic naevi has been associated with a number of different central lesions and can be readily recognised. Both the clinical pattern and histopathology suggest that this phenomenon may represent a localised form of nummular dermatitis with a predilection for elevated lesions.
