Myiasis involving the eyelid is uncommon. Herein, we present an 8-year-old boy who was diagnosed with preseptal cellulitis, yet a single larva was eventually extracted from his eyelid.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This review presents current data regarding the use of collagen cross-linking in the management of corneal infections. Infectious keratitis can lead to blindness without proper antimicrobial therapy. The disease can still progress and lead to corneal melt despite early detection and management. The aggressive nature of corneal pathogens and the threat of antibiotic-resistance make it necessary to develop newer ways of managing this rapidly progressive condition.

Ophthalmomyiasis externa is mainly caused by the sheep botfly Oestrus ovis; therefore, it is usually seen in rural areas. We report here a case of ophthalmomyiasis externa in a young man from Istanbul. The patient had no known history of exposure to farm animals or rural areas.

We report a case of Aspergillus fumigatus keratitis in a 53-year-old, well-controlled diabetic female who did not respond to standard antifungal treatment. She was started on topical natamycin eye drops, but the infiltrate continued to progress. Topical amphotericin B and systemic ketoconazole was added, however, there was no response and the infiltrate increased further. She was then switched to topical and systemic voriconazole. Steady resolution of the infiltrate was noted within 2 weeks of therapy.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the characteristics of ophthalmic symptoms of patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and to provide reference for early diagnosis and treatment of HIV.

AIM: To study the association between chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) and Mooren's type keratitis.
METHOD: A total of 50 patients with chronic HCV were screened for any evidence of corneal ulceration. Detailed ocular examination was conducted by slit-lamp biomicroscopy. Patients with history of trauma to the eye or previous herpetic keratitis were excluded from the study.
RESULTS: There were 37 males and 13 females. The age of the patients ranged from 10 to 70 years. There was no evidence of Mooren's ulcer in any of our patients.

Report of a case of peripheral keratitis caused by Rhinosporidium seeberi. The patient was seen in a referral practice. Corneal scraping was performed on a middle-aged female patient presenting with peripheral keratitis and progressive nasal obstruction that revealed spores suggestive of rhinosporidiosis. Bilateral cysticercosis of the optic nerves affected a man who presented with features suggestive of optic neuritis. Ultrasonography revealed bilateral sonolucent cystic lesions with central echo-dense, highly reflective structures behind the optic nerve heads. A subretinal cyst was present in one eye. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain and orbit revealed multiple cysticerci in the brain, orbit, and eye. The subretinal cyst was removed by pars plana vitrectomy, and the other cysts resolved on treatment with albendazole.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of therapeutic lamellar and penetrating keratoplasty for fungal corneal ulcer.
METHODS: Donor corneas preserved in pure glycerine or water-free calcium chloride were used in corneal transplantation for fungal corneal ulcers that were poorly responsive to the anti-fungal medical treatment, 5% iodine was used in lamellar keratoplasty to kill the fungi in the recipient bed, and diluted or original solution of fluconazole was used in penetrating keratoplasty to wash the anterior chamber.
RESULTS: In the lamellar keratoplasty group, there were 23 cases; 18 cases
