Feeding and hydration issues for older adults with dementia.

All cultures dictate the need to feed the hungry and create rituals for almost every life passage around the consumption of food and beverage. Yet, in old age and among those who cannot advocate for themselves, mealtime is medicalized and demoted to an insignificant event without dignity or regard for individualized needs. Attention must be paid to not only what people eat, but how they eat, and how they are supported in that process. Kayser-Jones summarized the extensive findings of several ethnographic studies in nursing homes by noting the multi-factorial issues involved in delivering excel

Feasibility and Acceptability of a Group-Based Telehealth Stress Management and Resilience Training Intervention for Men with Prostate Cancer on Active Surveillance.

Background/Objectives: Active surveillance (AS) is the recommended management strategy for localized, early-stage prostate cancer. Despite promising cancer-specific outcomes, up to one-third of men discontinue AS and undergo radical prostatectomy without evidence of disease progression, often because of stress, anxiety, uncertainty, and unmet supportive care needs. Evidence-based psychosocial interventions tailored to men on AS are lacking. We aimed to: (1) adapt the Stress Management and Resilience Training (SMART) program to address the unique psychosocial and supportive care needs of men wi

Implementing shared care models for young people with mental health difficulties: a consolidated framework for implementation research- informed scoping review of service integration across physical, sexual and mental health domains.

BACKGROUND: Most mental health difficulties (MHD) emerge during adolescence and early adulthood, placing young people at an increased risk for co-occurring physical and sexual health challenges. Shared models of care (SMOC) to connect specialist mental health care with physical and/or sexual health have been developed to address these health needs among young people with MHD. We aimed to identify and characterise SMOC that integrate physical and/or sexual healthcare for young people with MHD, and to synthesise SMOC implementation determinants using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation

Delphi consensus on the real-world application of the updated diagnostic and treatment guidelines for migraine in Asia Pacific.

BACKGROUND: Although diagnostic criteria and treatment guidelines for migraine are well-established, care remains suboptimal due to frequent misdiagnosis and undertreatment. This Delphi consensus aimed to explore how clinicians in the Asia-Pacific region approach migraine diagnosis and management. METHODS: This study used a modified-Delphi method, involving two rounds of surveys and a virtual scientific meeting with 14 headache-specialists from seven countries in Asia-Pacific. Consensus on statements was measured using a Likert scale ranging from 1 to 9, with consensus threshold set at 75%.

Diagnostic Yield of Upper-Tract Imaging in Visible Haematuria: A Single-Centre Retrospective Clinical Audit.

Introduction Visible haematuria (VH) is a common presenting symptom of urological malignancy, yet the optimal upper-tract imaging modality remains debated. Recent Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) Greener Pathway guidance recommends ultrasound as the first-line investigation, reserving CT urogram (CTU) for high-risk patients. Our District General Hospital (DGH) currently performs CTU for all VH patients, regardless of risk factors, with adequate renal function. This audit aimed to evaluate the diagnostic yield of upper-tract imaging in our local VH pathway and to review our current local hae

Are we ready for a sustainable approach? A qualitative study of the readiness of the public health system to provide STI services to the key populations at risk of HIV in Bangladesh.

INTRODUCTION: In Bangladesh, sexually transmitted infection (STI) services are available for all populations in public health facilities. However, STI services for key populations (KPs) at risk of HIV need specifically designed approaches that are predominantly administered to KPs through donor-supported service centers operated by non-government organizations (NGOs) and community-based organisations (CBOs). However, the steady decline in donor funding warrants a sustainable transition of STI services for the KPs into public health facilities. This article aimed to explore the service availabi
