A 70-year-old woman was admitted for difficulty in swallowing. Esophageal cancer (MtLt, type 3, T4N3M0, cStage IVa) was diagnosed in May 2010. The cancer was unresectable, and chemoradiotherapy (CRT) with TS-1 was initiated in June 2010, and a partial response (PR) was observed. BACKGROUND: Recent advances in endoscopic diagnosis and treatment have led to better prognosis for patients with superficial oesophageal cancer. The incidence of subsequent other primary cancer (SOPC) has become a new problem for patients who survive after treatment of superficial oesophageal cancer.

Our experience with the surgical management of 472 patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx suggests that more aggressive management of the N0 neck is effective in managing patients with laryngeal carcinoma. During the past fifteen years, 44 patients with multicentric carcinoma of the esophagus or double primary malignant neoplasm of the upper alimentary tract, collected from 5316 patients with cancer of esophagus or gastric cardia in the same period, were treated in our hospital.
