METHODS: National hospital discharge data between January 1998 and June 2003 for all children younger than 3 years of age with intussusception were reviewed. During the summer and fall of 2003, we conducted a prospective, population-based study among residents of a 3-county area in Colorado, United States, with developing WNV-associated paralysis.
