Fellow-eye herpes simplex virus type 1 uveitis after intravitreal bevacizumab: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) therapy is widely used for neovascular retinal diseases. Intraocular inflammation is a recognized adverse event and typically occurs in the injected eye. Inflammation in the fellow, uninjected eye is exceptionally rare and may be misinterpreted as sterile immune-mediated inflammation, potentially delaying appropriate treatment. We report a case of polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-confirmed herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) uveitis presenting in the fellow eye shortly after intravitreal bevacizumab administration. CA

Case Report: Intracranial hypertension occurring in association with subacute thyroiditis.

Subacute thyroiditis (SAT) is a self-limited inflammatory thyroid disorder that typically produces a transient thyrotoxic phase. Intracranial hypertension (IH) is a rare but potentially sight-threatening complication of thyrotoxicosis, reported almost exclusively in hyperthyroidism, with only a single previous report linking it to SAT. We report the case of a 29-year-old woman who developed IH during the thyrotoxic phase of subacute thyroiditis, temporally related to dental manipulation. She presented with headache, nausea, vomiting, and fever, followed by a syncopal episode; clinical, laborat

Evaluation of functional, structural, and electrophysiological optic nerve changes following extradural anterior clinoidectomy in patients without preoperative optic canal compression.

Extradural anterior clinoidectomy is increasingly used to improve exposure and proximal vascular control in aneurysm surgery, but its isolated effect on an otherwise uncompromised optic nerve remains unclear. To evaluate the functional, structural, and electrophysiological impact of EAC with optic canal unroofing in patients without preoperative optic nerve compression or optic canal pathology. We conducted this single-center study included 16 adults who underwent no-drill extradural anterior clinoidectomy (EAC) during microsurgical clipping of ruptured aneurysms (January 2023-December 2024).

A large intraorbital arachnoid cyst with preserved visual acuity in a 3-year-old female: a case report and review of the literature.

BACKGROUND: Arachnoid cysts (ACs) are the most common brain cysts, comprising 1% of intracranial lesions, with a higher prevalence in children (2.6%) than adults (0.3%-1.7%). Intraorbital ACs are extremely rare, with only a few cases reported to date, especially in children. While most ACs do not exhibit any symptoms, some cases of symptomatic ACs require surgical intervention to prevent brain damage. This article presents a unique case of a large intraorbital AC with preserved visual acuity in a 3-year-old female with a concise literature review of all intraorbital AC cases reported to date.
