PURPOSE OF REVIEW: As male genital corrective surgery is becoming increasingly requested by patients, the need to reach a general consensus on indications and techniques is now imperative. This review of published data provides an overview concerning patient selection modalities, benefits/risks and expected outcomes of surgery. Urinary incontinence (UI) is a common problem, experienced by both men and women, and has a significant impact on quality of life. In this patient, a neuroleptic had been prescribed several days before the thrombosis and the clotting assessment demonstrated protein C resistance. BACKGROUND: Etiology of venogenic erectile dysfunction is not exactly known. Various pathologic processes were accused but none proved entirely satisfactory. These include presence of large venous channels draining corpora cavernosa, Peyronie's disease, diabetes and structural alterations in fibroblastic components of trabeculae and cavernous smooth muscles. We present a case of penile and scrotal oedema in a young man. Although oestradiol treatment and compression bandaging provided some relief from the symptoms, neither therapy was ideal. Triangular resection of the foreskin was therefore performed, although the oedema persisted. The aetiology of the condition remains unknown.

A modified perineal urethrostomy was performed in 14 males cats with partial or complete urethral obstruction. Follow-up information was available for 2 to 18 months. By use of this method, the preputial tissues were preserved, and the penile urethra was anastomosed to the preputial mucosa to enlarge and lengthen the urethra. Urine flow was reestablished in all cats without evidence of urethral stenosis or other major complications. Appearance of the perineal region and prepuce was not substantially altered.
