Endolymphatic system surgery for Meniere's disease has been shown to be effective in selected cases; however, some patients do not achieve substantial long-term relief from their symptoms in spite of early success and may require revision surgery. Revision endolymphatic system surgery has been reported in the literature in 9.7% to 16.3% of patients. Five patients with fractures of the lateral tibial condyle were treated operatively by resurfacing of the lateral tibial plateau by means of a Marmor polyethylene tibial prosthesis. The indications were persistent pain and valgus deformity. In four patients, in whom the cartilage of the lateral femoral condyle was normal at the time of operation, the results were excellent. One patient with osteoarthritic cartilage degeneration of the femoral condyle was not improved by the operation.

This new tympanoplasty technique with homo-ossicles (25 cases) has evolved as a reliable, effective, and durable technique to construct the middle ear conduction system when the total ossicular chain is missing. The isolated footplate is driven by two (primary and secondary) neotympanic membranes; hence this new technique is designated as "twin tympanoplasty." Fitting myoelectrically controlled hand prostheses to young children has previously been considered unrealistic and even contraindicated. In 1971 the first preschool child was supplied with a myoelectric prosthesis at the Regional Hospital in Orebro, Sweden. Six minor corrections in the face of children with Down's syndrome can clearly improve their facial expression. Reduction of macroglossia facilitates phonation. Augmentation of the bridge of the nose effaces the epicanthus. The lid axis, the hypotonic lower lip, and microgenia can be repaired. While the parents have been satisfied with the results of surgery, a positive effect on social behavior and mental development of the children has not yet been proven.

A case report of a systemic, near-fatal illness possibly related to augmentation mammaplasty with silicone gel prostheses is presented. Twenty-four hours after the augmentation procedure, the patient, a 32-year-old woman, developed a high fever followed by diffuse arthritis, renal failure, and bilateral pulmonary infiltrates. Shortly after removal of the prostheses, the patient's condition improved dramatically.
