Seven sheep flocks with subclinical psoroptic otoacariasis were investigated. Psoroptes species mites were isolated from 3.1 per cent of the 2676 sheep examined and the prevalence in the flocks ranged between 1.3 and 23.9 per cent, with the highest infestations in pedigree flocks. Oestrus ovis is an obligate parasite that causes myiasis in domestic ruminants, being commonly found in the Mediterranean area. From 2009 to 2019 a total of 3476 heads of culling sheep and goats from the Mediterranean coast of Spain were examined for the presence of O. ovis. The effect of Fasciola hepatica excretory-secretory products (ES products) on the polarization and chemokinesis of sheep and human neutrophils was investigated. The synthesis and fasciolicidal activity of 4-amino-6-(trichloroethenyl)-1,3-benzenedisulfonamide are reported. A single dose of 15 mg/kg was effective in removing over 90% of immature Fasciola hepatica from sheep (6 weeks after infection) and calves (8 weeks after infection). A 2.5 mg/kg dose removed over 90% of mature (16 weeks old) liver fluke from sheep. Single oral doses up to 400 mg/kg were tolerated by sheep without gross toxic symptoms.
