Central retinal artery occlusion very often leads to irreversible visual loss and seldom responds to treatment. Retrograde cannulation of the supraorbital artery followed by irrigation with anticoagulants and vasodilators may be of value in the early management of this problem. A case in point is described.

An instrument has been developed which creates an experimental model of an acute bleeding gastric ulcer. The diameter and depth of these gastric ulcers are reproducible. The instrument can be used endoscopically or at laparotomy. Using this ulcer model nonsurgical modalities for the treatment of upper gastrointestinal bleeding can be compared in a controlled manner. This standard experimental model may also facilitate comparison of results among different research groups.

A 53-year-old man suddenly developed chest and back pain while driving, resulting in an accident. Presented herein is a variant of surgical management of a patient with a giant false aneurysm of the aortic arch in the posterior mediastinum. Using the technique of temporary bypass or temporary "debranching" made it possible to carry out a reconstructive intervention without the use of an artificial circulation apparatus. Arachnoid cyst (AC) is a neurological complication of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). Although an AC can increase the risk of a subdural hematoma, the clinical presentation of bleeding into an AC associated with ADPKD is not well known. We herein report the case of a 59-year-old woman in whom the initiation of hemodialysis for renal failure led to AC bleeding. A 25-year-old woman with a history of systemic lupus erythematosus who was taking steroids came to the hospital because of vague signs and symptoms of weight loss, constipation, and oral ulcers. Multiorgan dysfunction developed, and catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome was suspected. The in-hospital and intermediate outcomes in 341 patients with acute coronary syndrome treated with conservative (non-invasive) interventions were analysed.
