In this study we explored the possibility of improving the anti-tumor potency of tumor-targeted superantigens (TTS) by combination treatment with interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha). We used a model of acquired toxoplasmosis to study the immune response in pregnant BALB/c mice (IL4+/+) and in pregnant transgenic IL4-deficient BALB/c mice (IL4-/-) during acute toxoplasmosis. Although the immune system in rheumatoid arthritis is generally in a state of hyperactivity, deficient function can be demonstrated in certain specific parts of the system.
