Improving Access to Transplant: A Quality Improvement Initiative to Reduce Time From Outpatient Dialysis Initiation to Deceased Donor Kidney Transplant Activation.

BACKGROUND: Pre-emptive kidney transplantation is the preferred treatment in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD); however, many patients must unavoidably initiate dialysis prior to transplantation. Prolonged dialysis exposure is associated with increased morbidity and mortality, mandating prompt transition to transplant when possible. Delays in transplant readiness are unfortunately prevalent and are often driven by fragmented communication, limited education, and system-level barriers. OBJECTIVE: To reduce time from dialysis initiation to deceased donor kidney transplant (DDKT) act

Predicting Outpatient Follow-Up Retention After Inpatient Treatment in Patients With Alcohol Use Disorder: A Data-Driven Random Forest Approach.

Longer treatment engagement is associated with improved recovery outcomes in alcohol use disorder (AUD), making patient retention a critical determinant of reduced return to drinking. This study aimed to identify factors predicting outpatient treatment engagement, operationalized as the number of follow-up visits, among individuals with AUD following inpatient care. We applied a five-step analytic framework integrating random forest modelling (RFM) and Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression to identify predictors of outpatient visit frequency. Clinical, psychologica

Exploring perceptions of digital patient reported outcome measures: a multi-site qualitative case study in four European oncology outpatient clinics.

BACKGROUND: Digital Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) can help to promote patient-centred care (PCC). However, they are currently not routinely used, potentially compromising patient outcomes. In this work we sought to (i) explore existing processes, patient and healthcare professionals' (HCP) perceptions of current gaps in PCC and (ii) their views on how a PROMs-based digital system could help to address these gaps in four European oncology outpatient clinics. METHODS: We conducted a qualitative multi-site case study including healthcare staff (organisational leaders, managers and HC

The Change in Trait Resilience Predicts the Alleviation of Transdiagnostic Depressive Symptoms in Outpatient Adolescents: The Mediating Role of the Change in Psychological Inflexibility/Experiential Avoidance.

This study examined how the change in trait resilience, an increasing tendency to effectively cope with challenges and flexibly adapt to stress, affected the change in transdiagnostic depressive symptoms over 6 months of clinical follow-up among outpatient adolescents, and the role of psychological inflexibility/experiential avoidance (PI/EA), characterised by rigid and avoidant emotion regulation, in this association. Trait resilience was measured with the Brief Resilience Scale, PI/EA with the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-II and depressive symptoms with the Beck Depression Inventory-I

Early trends in outpatient addiction care for cannabis use disorder following cannabis legalization in Germany: Evidence from National Monitoring Data.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: With the introduction of the German Cannabis Act (CanG) in April 2024, cannabis use was partially legalized in Germany. This study investigated immediate trends following this policy shift in treatment-seeking for cannabis use disorders (CUD) in the German outpatient addiction care system. METHOD: Data were obtained from the German Addiction Statistical Service (DSHS), Germany's national monitoring system for addiction-related treatment demand. We analyzed meta-aggregated datasets for two pre-legalization years (2022, 20 223) and one post- legalization year (April-Decembe

Prevalence of Depression and Anxiety Disorders and Associated Psychosocial Risk Factors Among Pregnant Women Attending an Outpatient Clinic at a Tertiary Care Hospital.

Background Pregnancy is a period of significant biological and psychosocial change that may predispose women to mental health disorders. Antenatal depression and anxiety are increasingly recognized as important public health concerns due to their adverse impact on maternal well-being, pregnancy outcomes, and offspring development. Despite this, these conditions often remain underdiagnosed in routine antenatal care, particularly in low- and middle-income settings. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of depressive and anxiety disorders among pregnant women attending a tertiary care outp

Epidemiological and clinical features of nail disorders in patients presenting to a pediatric dermatology outpatient clinic: A cross-sectional study in a tertiary referral center.

Nail disorders in the pediatric population encompass a broad spectrum of conditions with distinct epidemiological and clinical profiles compared with those observed in adults. Despite their clinical relevance, comprehensive data on the prevalence, distribution, and associated factors of pediatric nail disorders remain scarce. This study was designed to test the hypothesis that the prevalence and etiological distribution of nail disorders vary significantly across pediatric age groups and are associated with identifiable clinical and demographic factors. This cross-sectional observational study

Hospitalization Free-Survival, Adverse Drug Reactions, and Retention in Care Outcomes of an Outpatient Treatment Model for Cryptococcal Meningitis in PLWH in Maputo, Mozambique.

BACKGROUND: Cryptococcal meningitis (CM) remains a leading cause of mortality among people with advanced HIV disease (AHD) in sub-Saharan Africa. Current guidelines recommend induction therapy with amphotericin B and flucytosine, typically administered in an inpatient setting due to concerns over severe clinical presentation and drug-related toxicities. This requirement poses a significant burden on resource-limited health systems. We evaluated the real-world outcomes of a fully outpatient model for CM therapy in Maputo, Mozambique. METHODS: A longitudinal retrospective cohort study was condu

Uptake of family planning methods among adults presenting with genital ulcers at community posts and public outpatient health facilities in central Uganda.

BACKGROUND: Genital ulcer disease (GUD), a common clinical presentation at health facilities in Uganda, is often caused by sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and increases the risk of HIV. Family planning (FP) methods are effective for preventing unintended pregnancies, while some methods, namely male and female condoms, also reduce the risk of STI transmission. However, little has been documented about FP use among individuals with GUD in Uganda. METHODS: Patients with clinician-confirmed genital ulcers were enrolled for a GUD study at six sites across government clinics and community ou
