CONTEXT: Cervical root avulsion secondary to traumatic plexus injury is a rare etiology of superficial siderosis (SS) of the central nervous system (CNS). BACKGROUND: Charcot spine arthropathy (posttraumatic neuroarthropathy of the spine) has been reported to be a very late and rare complication of spinal cord injury. Charcot of the cervicothoracic and upper thoracic region rarely is reported in the literature. INTRODUCTION: Allan-Herndon-Dudley syndrome is an X-linked condition caused by mutations of the monocarboxylate transporter 8 gene.
