The effects of intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) injection of dynorphin A-(1-13) on methamphetamine-induced behavioral alterations in mice were determined by using multidimensional behavioral analyses. Methamphetamine (0.3, 1.0 and 3.0 mg/kg s.c.) produced a marked increase in linear locomotion, circling, rearing and/or grooming behaviors. We report a case of early abdominal pregnancy (6 weeks amenorrhea). The diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy was suspected according to the usual clinical, serologic, and sonographic procedure. It was confirmed by laparoscopy. Laparoscopic surgery was unable to assess the trophoblastic site and the hemostasis of the lesion that was histologically proven.

Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease characterized by the presence of thyroid autoantibodies and frequent coexistence of other autoimmune disorders. The object of our research was to examine the peripheral blood and fine-needle cytology modifications in patients with this disease during therapy with Timopentina. Our results suggested a possible therapeutic effect of Timopentina, as an alternative to traditional cortisone treatment.

The pharmacological effects of synthetic alpha-human atrial natriuretic peptide (alpha-hANP) in patients with Cushing's syndrome and primary aldosteronism were compared with those in normal volunteers. An infusion of synthetic alpha-hANP at 0.1 microgram/kg per min for 20 min produced a maximal plasma hANP level of 800-1200 pg/ml in patients with Cushing's syndrome and primary aldosteronism, and in normal subjects. By using cholera toxin B subunit and its antibody, the deposition of GM1-ganglioside in the cerebral cortex and peripheral nerves including Meissner and Auerbach's plexuses in the intestine and other visceral nerves of generalized GM1-gangliosidosis was demonstrated. The GM1-ganglioside was found in the swollen neurons of cerebral cortex and ganglion cells of the peripheral nerves. Electron microscopically, parts of membranous cytoplasmic bodies, and amorphous substances among them, revealed a positive reaction for the cholera toxin staining.

However, the trophoblast eventually erodes into vessels and a variable degree of bleeding and hematoma compromises its growth.
