59 patients with 60 surgically treated acetabular fractures were followed up to 25 years. Coxarthrosis developed within 3 years in 23 fractured hips. There was a high correlation between nonanatomic reduction and posttraumatic arthrosis. The long-term results after an acetabular fracture can be predicted within 2-3 years of surgery.

Fourteen cases of primary colonic non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL) with a mean age of 51.5 yrs and 64.3% of them female, are reported. 108 women with congenital heart disease in child-bearing age (16-38 years, mean age 28) were followed up for a period of ten years. A total of 365 donor hepatectomies performed between May 1985 and March 1990 were reviewed and analyzed retrospectively to identify risk factors associated with poor graft function and to study the outcome of grafts retrieved from "marginal" donors. Fourteen patients with AIDS and toxoplasmic encephalitis, who could not be treated with the standard regimen of pyrimethamine and a sulfonamide due to a previous history of bone marrow suppression and severe allergic reactions to sulfonamides, were treated with oral clindamycin and pyrimethamine. Fifty one angiographically proved cases of tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) in the age group of 5-50 years were analysed retrospectively for the level(s) of right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) obstruction. The authors report their experience with 45 cases of perforated diverticular sigmoiditis (10 cases of mesocolic abscesses, 13 cases of localised peritonitis and 22 cases of generalised peritonitis). Intussusception is a serious condition. It is necessary to establish the diagnosis as soon as possible. This is of importance for the kind of therapy. We confirmed this statement by studying retrospectively 34 patients in the Emma Kinderziekenhuis in Amsterdam. There are two well known forms of therapy: hydrostatic reduction and surgery. Besides we like to pay attention to the method of air-pressure enema reduction which has been used in China for over 23 years.

In the present retrospective study we examine the complications arising from simple goiter operations based on the analysis of 2,035 cases. The mortality rate is extremely low (0.3%).
