In the past 7 years, 1967 through 1973, 12 patients who had interventricular septal defects from penetrating stab wounds of the thorax were treated at Detroit General Hospital. This is a report of 11 cases of traumatic rupture of the diaphragm, 8 left, 2 right and 1 bilateral. In 10 cases the rupture occurred in multiple trauma victims of a violent accident. In one exceptional case a right rupture occurred after a minor trauma; it was followed by herniation of the right colon and half of tranverse, the liver remaining in the abdomen. The mechanisms and types of ruptures are analyzed. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From January 1997 to October 2022, 194 patients under 4 months of age and weight less then 5.6 Kg underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic lobe resection for CPAM, Sequestration, and CLE. All procedures were performed by or under the direct guidance of a single surgeon.
