BACKGROUND: Patients with mycosis fungoides (MF) are frequently treated with UV light and psoralen (PUVA), nitrogen mustard, and electron beam irradiation, modalities known to predispose persons to development of cutaneous malignancies.
OBJECTIVE: We assessed the relation between these therapeutic modalities and the development of secondary cutaneous malignancies.

A total of 2552 persons living in 9 villages along the Benue river valley, Mutum-Biyu district of Gongola State, Nigeria were examined between October and December 1989 for filariasis. The prevalence, onset, and type of seizure disorders, as well as seizure control, were studied in a large cohort of 405 individuals with Down syndrome (age range, 6 months to 45 years). The evaluation of a questionnaire completed by the subjects' parents and of the patients' medical records indicated that 33 (8.1%) of 405 persons with Down syndrome had seizure disorder. The authors assessed the expected degree of comfort among first-year students at two California medical schools in taking a sexual history from four types of patients: heterosexual men; heterosexual women; homosexual (men and women combined); and an AIDS patient. A previous study of patients with allergic contact dermatitis yielded results which supported the hypothesis that the presence of certain HLA antigens led to a predisposition to allergen-specific reactions and others to multiple contact sensitivity. The present study was performed to test this hypothesis. 129 patients sensitive to one allergen only (either chromium, nickel, formalin or balsam of Peru) and 83 patients sensitive to two or more allergens were HLA typed regarding the A and B loci. A series of 368 persons matched with regard to sex, age and place of residence were used as controls.

After intensively treating 18 agoraphobic patients with 13 1/2 hours of exposure in vivo, we examined the effects on both patients and their spouses over a period of six months, using questionnaire measures of symptoms and marital adjustment.
