Despite strong hereditary components, most cases of colorectal cancer are sporadic. The possibility to manipulate in the clinical setting the many presumed risk factors is almost impossible, and long-term epidemiological studies are the only reliable form for comparisons. We performed a systematic review to analyze the reports of de-novo adenocarcinoma arising in the transposed colon, used for conduit after esophagectomy, after total gastrectomy, and for vaginal reconstruction. In all these situations, the colon is transposed in different physiological conditions from its natural environment.

The effects of Histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibition on epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) differs in various types of cancers. This paper presents new data-based analyses on the ability of alternative methods to predict the skin sensitization potential of chemicals. It appears that skin sensitization, as shown in humans and rodents, can be predicted with good accuracy both with in vitro assays and QSAR approaches. The accuracy is about the same: 85-90%. Osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) resulting from administration of bisphosphonates (BP) or denosumab is a rare but severe complication in cancer patients. Complete remission depends on the stage of ONJ; it can be estimated in the range of 20-30 %. Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is a logical additional option, as it has been recognized effective for the management of chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy-induced mucositis. LLLT irradiation has anti-inflammatory actions and thus can help to control pain, as well as biostimulating properties with favorable actions on bacterial control and wound healing.
