High-performance liquid chromatography of some basic drugs on a n-octadecylphosphonic acid modified magnesia-zirconia stationary phase.

The high-performance liquid chromatographic behavior of some basic drugs was studied on a n-octadecylphosphonic acid modified magnesia-zirconia (C18PZM) stationary phase. The effect of mobile phase variables such as methanol content, ionic strength, and pH on their chromatographic behavior was investigated. The retention mechanism of basic drugs on the stationary phase was elucidated. The results indicate that both hydrophobic and cation-exchange interactions contribute to solute retention under most chromatographic conditions. The inherent Brönsted-acid sites and also the adsorbed Lewis base

Warfarin-fluoxetine and diazepam-fluoxetine interaction.

Fluoxetine and its metabolite norfluoxetine are eliminated by oxidative metabolism via the CYP450 system and may inhibit the oxidative metabolism of other drugs to various degrees. A fluoxetine-warfarin interaction has been postulated, but is not well documented in the literature. The elimination of diazepam may also be inhibited by fluoxetine. An elderly man was prescribed these three drugs in combination and experienced such an interaction. He developed an elevated international normalized ratio (INR) and died from a cerebral hemorrhage. He also manifested drug delirium secondary to inhibite

Interactome analysis of Rv0148 to predict potential targets and their pathways linked to aminoglycosides drug resistance: An insilico approach.

Failure of multi drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment has increased the risk of aminoglycosides resistance, disease transmission, morbidity and mortality. Aminoglycosides are commonly used in multi drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment. They inhibit protein synthesis by interacting with translationary steps. Apart from gene mutations various mechanisms of aminoglycosides resistance have been reported but still our knowledge regarding aminoglycosides resistance is fragmentary. Proteomics and bioinformatics approaches are the most accepted approaches to explore the unrevealed

Analysis of the molecular interactions and complexation of chloroquine with bovine serum albumin.

BACKGROUND: Pharmacokinetic parameters, drug bioavailability, and biological activities depend on the mechanisms of interaction with serum a … ty with BSA. The weak binding affinity of chloroquine with BSA is important in determining the drug-drug interactions at the binding sites of BSA. The presence of stronger binding ligands, e.g., chloramphenicol, tetracyclines or diclofenac, can compete with chloroquine for its binding sites, and therefore lowers its serum albumin binding. This study will be helpful …

Inhibition of DNA Topoisomerase Type IIα (TOP2A) by Mitoxantrone and Its Halogenated Derivatives: A Combined Density Functional and Molecular Docking Study.

In this study, mitoxantrone and its halogenated derivatives have been designed by density functional theory (DFT) to explore their structural and thermodynamical properties. The performance of these drugs was also evaluated to inhibit DNA topoisomerase type IIα (TOP2A) by molecular docking calculation. Noncovalent interactions play significant role in improving the performance of halogenated drugs. The combined quantum and molecular mechanics calculations revealed that CF3 containing drug shows better preference in inhibiting the TOP2A compared to other modified drugs.
