Two Candida albicans isolates were collected from a HIV-positive patient with recurrent oropharyngeal candidosis (OPC). One isolate was taken during the first episode of oral candidosis [fluconazole susceptible (FLU-S), minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) = 0.25 mg l(-1) ] and the second after the patient developed refractory OPC and resistance to fluconazole (FLU-R, MIC = 64 mg l(-1)). To evaluate caspofungin in high-risk invasive aspergillosis (IA) patient, a retrospective review of patient characteristics, antifungal therapies and clinical outcomes on hospitalised patients at sites in Russia, Canada, Germany, and Thailand was performed. Oropharyngeal candidiasis (OPC) is a common infection among the immuno-compromised population. Though not overtly immunosuppressed, an elderly female patient suffered from chronic pleurisy due to Aspergillus fumigatus. In spite of nearly six months of itraconzole-therapy, she eventually succumbed to CNPA. Pleurisy may be a typical manifestation of this rare mycosis which is often ill fated.

Tinea faciei is an uncommon dermatophytosis affecting the glabrous skin of the face. Between 1988 and 2007 at the Dermatology Department of Cagliari University, 107 cases of tinea faciei have been diagnosed, involving 72 females and 35 males, aged 2-72 years.
