AIM: Topical photodynamic therapy (PDT) with methyl-aminolevulinate (MAL) is widely used for the management of actinic keratoses (AK) and non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSCs). The authors report the results of a retrospective chart review showing the cumulative four-year experience with MAL-PDT in a hospital outpatient setting.
METHODS: The medical records selected concerned all patients who completed the MAL-PDT regimen (one single session for AK and two sessions one week apart for NMSCs) and who underwent post-treatment assessments over a follow-up period of at least 12 months.

CD8+ cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) is a relatively rare subset of the non-Hodgkins lymphomas. Bexarotene has been FDA-approved for the treatment of CTCL, but previous studies have been conducted on CD4+ CTL and there have been no reports about its use in CD8+ CTCL. Carney complex is an extremely rare, autosomal dominant, multi-system disorder characterized by multiple neoplasias and lentiginosis. The genetic defect responsible for this complex has been localized to the short arm of chromosome 2 (2p16). The most prevalent clinical manifestations in patients with Carney complex are spotty skin pigmentation, skin and cardiac myxomas, Cushing's syndrome and acromegaly.
