Deleterious effects of non-branded versions of imatinib used for the treatment of patients with chronic myeloid leukemia in chronic phase: a case series on an escalating issue impacting patient safety.

Glivec (imatinib mesylate) has changed the natural history of chronic-phase chronic myeloid leukemia (CML-CP), transforming it into a long-term and manageable disease. At our institution, we treat over 100 patients with CML-CP per year, typically with first-line imatinib therapy. Recently, several healthcare systems and insurance providers have substituted non-branded versions of imatinib that have not demonstrated efficacy or safety comparable to that of imatinib. Here, we analyzed a series of 12 patients who were exposed to non-branded versions of imatinib. Following the switch from branded

Low Baseline Absolute Neutrophil Count and Chemotherapy Safety in African American Patients with Advanced Lung Cancer: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

INTRODUCTION: African American patients remain underrepresented in cancer clinical trials, and minimum absolute neutrophil count (ANC) eligibility thresholds may disproportionately exclude individuals with Duffy-null associated neutrophil count (DANC), a common biologic variant associated with lower baseline ANC and no clearly increased infection risk. We evaluated whether African American patients with advanced lung cancer and lower baseline ANC experience greater chemotherapy-related complications. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of African American patients with stage IV

How Adult Children's Filial Piety Shapes Older Patients' Medical Responsible Behavior: Psychological Safety and Trust as Sequential Mediators.

Filial piety shapes intergenerational care in China, yet its role in older patients' clinical behavior is unclear. Survey data from 478 older patients across three hospitals in two provinces were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. Pragmatic obligations were associated with all endogenous constructs; compassionate reverence was associated with relationship comfort, trust, and medical responsible behavior, but not belonging atmosphere. Global trust in doctors mediated all four paths, whereas belonging atmosphere mediated only the pragmatic obligations path and rel
