Objectives: Achilles tendon rupture leads to functional impairments and these may be underpinned by morphological changes in the muscle-tendon unit. The functional performance of the injured limb will be impaired regardless of time since surgery and these impairments occur alongside changes in muscle-tendon morphology. Mycotic aneurysms, often saccular, accounting for approximately 2.5% of all abdominal aortic aneurysms, possess increased risk of rupture, uncontrolled sepsis, and protracted hospital stay and are associated with high morbidity and mortality. The authors report the case of a 49-year-old female with no known comorbidities who presented with free rupture of an infrarenal dissecting mycotic aneurysm and underwent emergent open repair successfully. The etiological agent, Brucella melitensis, a Gram-negative zoonotic coccobacillus, is rarely reported to cause mycotic aneurysm.

Liver abscesses, either pyogenic or amoebic, with or without the involvement of the pleura, are not infrequently encountered in children. Isolated tubercular liver abscess without active pulmonary, gastrointestinal or other clinical evidence of tuberculosis is, however, rare and more so its rupture into the pleura. We report a case of a 14-year-old girl who presented with a liver abscess rupturing into the pleura causing an empyema. Successful management was achieved by intercostal tube drainage and antitubercular treatment.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is nowadays a reliable and common method for couple who need medically assisted procreation. Complications are rare. We report in this paper, the case of a woman with severe endometriosis who developed ureteral obstruction complicated by a renal rupture of the fornix due to ovarian hyperstimulation during an IVF attempt. The condition was diagnosed by CT scan and resolved with insertion of double-J catheter in the left ureter.

A 68-year-old man with previous coronary artery bypass surgery presented with acute onset chest pain. After ruling out an acute coronary syndrome, a computed tomography scan demonstrated a giant aneurysm (10 cm × 8 cm) of the right coronary artery saphenous vein graft (SVG) with signs of rupture into the mediastinum. Management of ruptured breast implants is scarcely discussed in the literature, especially in the setting of previous breast cancer and radiation. The authors present an uncommon presentation of late breast implant rupture with seroma and history of prior radiation. It is important to acknowledge the increased risk of wound healing complications in patients who are several years' postradiation therapy for breast cancer and should be an important factor when discussing treatment options with the patient.

Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) are very rare in Marfan syndrome. We present a case with a young nonsmoking and normotensive male with Marfan syndrome, who developed an infrarenal AAA that presented with rupture to the retroperitoneal cavity causing life-threatening bleeding shock. The patient had acute aortic surgery and survived. Five months before this incident, the patient had uneventful elective aortic root replacement (ad modum David) due to an enlarged aortic root. At that time, his abdominal aorta was assessed with a routine ultrasound scan that showed a normal-sized abdominal aorta.
